p. 190. Seven columns: stub, "Cases in which formal actions taken", then the five columns under "Formal actions taken by type of case" (Total formal actions taken, RC, RM, RD, UD). The stub heading and the "Cases in which formal actions taken" heading each span both heading levels, so they are repeated in both. Arithmetic check (transcribed as printed, nothing corrected): the "Total formal actions taken" column equals RC+RM+RD but excludes UD in every row where UD is non-zero. E.g. "Hearings completed, total" 1,983+81+235+7 = 2,306 but prints 2,299 (short by the UD value of 7); "Initial hearings" short by 7; "Decisions issued, total" and "By regional directors" short by 6; "Elections directed" (by regional directors) short by 4; "Dismissals on record" short by 2; "Requests for review received" short by 2; "Board action on request ruled upon, total" and "Denied" short by 1. Every row with UD = 0 adds up exactly, so this looks like a consistent convention or systematic omission in the source rather than isolated misprints. Vertical sums are internally consistent: Hearings total = initial + objections; Decisions issued total = by regional directors + by Board; Board action ruled upon total = Granted + Denied + Remanded; Board decision after review total = Affirmed + Modified + Reversed. "Review of regional directors' decisions", "Regional directors' decisions" and "Outcome" are label-only section lines with no printed values. "Review of regional directors' decisions" is printed on two lines and joined here; "Requests for review received" on the following line is the first data row under it. The scan's typeface renders many lowercase "i" characters without their dots (e.g. "Hearıngs", "Decısıons", "actıons"); these are transcribed with normal spelling. Scattered single dots in the stub column (beside "By regional directors", "By Board", "Granted", "Denied") are leader-dot remnants and are dropped. There is a small stray ink mark above the "2,017" cell in the "Initial hearings" row; it is not a footnote marker and the digits are clear.

No arithmetic was performed on the values, but for the reader's information the printed figures are internally consistent: "By Board" (925/889/780/26/83/9) equals stipulated + directed + Board decisions after review, and the Granted/Denied/Remanded lines sum to the "Board action on request ruled upon, total" row. A stray leader-dot fragment appears to the right of the "Withdrawn after request granted, before Board review" label and after "Board decisions after review, total."; these are leaders/typography, not data, and were dropped. The caption's footnote marker 1 belongs to the omitted caption line.
