Reader’s notes
p. 280. Nine columns: stub plus four two-column blocks (Number / Percent by type). The stub column has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. Decimal points: this scan drops small dots throughout the body type — the dots over lowercase "i" are missing as well ("Union certified", "original election", "definitions"), so the percent figures image as "100 0", "26 5", "24 3", etc. These are one-decimal percentages and have been transcribed with the decimal point restored ("100.0", "26.5", ...). No digits were changed. If a strictly literal rendering is wanted, read each percent cell as the same digits separated by a space. The caption carries footnote marker 1 ("Fiscal Year 1980 ^1"); the heading "Total rerun elections" carries marker 2. In the RM cases row the last two cells are a single printed "0" each (Number = 0, Percent by type = 0), not "0.0". By contrast, the Expedited elections row and the Board-directed elections row leave the percent cell blank where the number is 0: Expedited elections has 0 under "No union chosen" Number with a blank percent, and 0 under "Outcome of original election reversed" Number with a blank percent; Board-directed elections has 0 under "Outcome" Number with a blank percent. These blanks are as printed. "Regional director-directed elections" is printed on two lines and joined here; its figures sit on the second printed line. Internal check (not corrected): the component rows of each panel sum to the totals — 144+2+9 = 155, and 7+107+1+35+5 = 155 — so no misprint is apparent.
