Reader’s notes
p. 274. Decimal points in the Percent columns are nearly invisible in this scan (the period reproduces as a thin gap, e.g. "100 0", "65 1"), so they were restored: multi-digit percents are written with the point ("100.0", "65.1") and sub-1-percent values as printed in this report's style with a leading point and no zero (".3", ".8", ".1"). Exact zeros print as a bare "0" in both Number and Percent columns and are transcribed that way. The restoration is corroborated by arithmetic: in every one of the five case groups the five percent components sum exactly to the printed section subtotal, and the three section subtotals sum to 100.0; likewise every Number column's components sum exactly to its printed subtotal and grand total, and RC+RM+RD equals All R in every row. Row 3, "After—": "After" is a hanging lead-in printed on its own line at a shallower indent than "Consent election", "Stipulated election", "Expedited election", "Regional director directed election" and "Board directed election", which it governs; it carries no values. A small mark follows it, read as a dash; it is faint and could be a stray tick rather than printed punctuation. Row 2, "Certification issued, total": a small smudged mark sits in the left margin outside the table's left rule beside this label (likely bleed-through or a binding/handwritten artifact, not part of the label). The label itself begins at the same indent as "By withdrawal, total" and "By dismissal, total" and shows no leading "By". Capitalization follows the print: "After board decision and direction of election" (lowercase b) in the withdrawal section versus "By Board decision" (capital B) in the dismissal section. Rows 24 ("After hearing closed, before decision", dismissal) and 26 ("By Board decision") carry identical value sets (19/.2, 16/.2, 2/.2, 1/.1, 0/0); this is as printed and is consistent with the section's checked subtotals. The caption ("Table 10.—Analysis of Methods of Disposition of Representation and Union Deauthorization Cases Closed, Fiscal Year 1980 1") and its footnote marker were omitted per instructions. Nothing appears cut off by the crop.
