Reader’s notes
p. 260. Four printed columns: stub, "Cases in which formal actions taken", and the spanner "Formal actions taken by type of case" over AC and UC. The table appears complete at the right edge (the rules close just past the UC figures, and the caption is centred over this width), so no column seems to be cut off by the crop. Arithmetic warning, transcribed as printed: AC + UC does not equal the first column in several rows — Hearings completed 8+85=93 vs 115; Decisions issued after hearing 10+96=106 vs 129; By regional directors 9+95=104 vs 127; Requests for review received 1+7=8 vs 12; Board action on requests ruled upon, total 1+7=8 vs 12; Denied 0+5=5 vs 9. The residuals (22, 23, 23, 4, 4, 4) are consistent with a third case-type column that is not printed/visible here, but nothing of the kind is shown on the image. Other rows (By Board, Transferred, Granted, Remanded, and all the zero rows) do add up.
