Reader’s notes
p. 300. Eleven columns: stub plus Number/Percent under each of All R, RC, RM, RD, UD cases. The caption carries footnote marker 1 (not transcribed per instructions). Decimal points in the Percent columns are nearly invisible in this scan — they render as a gap (e.g. "100 0", "64 2"). I have restored them as decimal points, since the values are unambiguously tenths of a percent. Percent values below 1 are printed right-aligned as a single digit with a leading decimal point and no leading zero; I have transcribed them as ".3", ".5", ".1", etc. Percent cells that show only a zero glyph are transcribed as "0"; I cannot tell from the scan whether these are printed "0" or ".0", so treat that distinction as uncertain. Arithmetic verification (not used to alter any cell): all five Number columns are internally consistent — each component sums to its section total and the three section totals sum to "Total, all" in every column. The Percent columns likewise sum correctly within each section and to 100.0. This confirms several entries that would otherwise look like rounding errors and are transcribed exactly as printed: All R "After notice of hearing, before hearing closed" (stipulated) is 34.2 though 4,618/13,465 = 34.30; RC "After notice of hearing, before hearings closed" (withdrawal) is 14.5 though 1,559/10,796 = 14.44; RC "Before notice of hearing" (dismissal) is 1.6 though 185/10,796 = 1.71. In each case the printed value is the one that makes the column sum, so the source appears to have adjusted the rounding. "After" is printed as a standalone section line above "Consent election" with no values. The two "After notice of hearing, before hearing closed" rows under Consent election and under By dismissal use the singular "hearing"; the corresponding row under By withdrawal is printed with the plural "hearings closed". Both are transcribed as printed. A stray ink mark sits immediately before "34" in the RD Number column on the "After notice of hearing, before hearing closed" row (Consent election section); it is a scan artifact, not a digit or footnote marker — the value 34 is confirmed by the section sum 47+34+0 = 81.
