Reader’s notes
p. 271. Eleven columns: a stub plus five two-column panels (All R case, RC, RM, RD, UD), each with "Number of cases" and "Percent of cases closed". The caption carries footnote marker 1, which is excluded per instructions; no in-body cell carries a marker. Decimal points: in this 1-bit scan several percent values have a decimal point that did not survive scanning and print as a gap — "100 0" in the RC, RM and UD total cells, and "29 6", "26 1", "33 4", "5 1". Every percent figure in this table is printed to one decimal place and the column alignment matches the clearly-printed neighbours, so these are transcribed with the decimal point (100.0, 29.6, 26.1, 33.4, 5.1). The dropped dot is a reproduction artifact, not a different printed value. The first panel heading reads "All R case" on this scan, with no visible trailing "s"; the parallel headings in the other panels are plural ("RC cases", etc.), so this may be a worn or broken "All R cases", but it is transcribed as it appears. The UD panel's percent heading is set as "Per cent of cases closed" with a word space; joined to "Percent of cases closed" to match the other panels. Arithmetic check (not a correction, only a confidence note): all five columns' five stage rows sum exactly to their printed totals, and the percentages are consistent with those counts.
