Reader’s notes

p. 251. Eight columns: stub, Total^2, and the six filing-party columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party^2". The stub column carries no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. The six section lines ("All cases", "Unfair labor practice cases^3", "Representation cases^4", "Union-shop deauthorization cases", "Amendment of certification cases", "Unit clarification cases") are printed centered across the table body as banner rows with no values; they are transcribed as label-only rows. In the "All cases" block the first row label carries a raised 2 attached to the word "Pending" ("Pending^2 October 1, 1977"); the same label in the other five blocks has no marker. The "Total" column heading also carries a raised 2. In the Union-shop deauthorization block the six filing-party columns are printed as dash rules except the Individuals column, which carries the values; the dash-rule cells are transcribed as empty. (The Employers column dash rules are present on every one of those five rows.) Footnote 1 appears to be missing a period after "definitions of terms"; transcribed as printed. All row sums of the six filing-party columns equal the printed Total in every data row, so no misprints are suspected in the numbers.
