  1. 1 A single case may include allegations of violation of more than one subsection of the Act. Therefore, the total of the various allegations is greater than the total number of cases.
  2. 2 Sec. 8(a)(1) is a general provision forbidding any type of employer interference with the rights of the employees guaranteed by the Act, and therefore is included in all charges of employer unfair labor practices.

0 of 77 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 284. Layout: the table is printed as two side-by-side panels sharing the same two column headings (separated by a heavy vertical rule). Both panels are transcribed in the columns of one panel, left panel first (section A and section B's "Subsections of sec. 8(b)" block), then the right panel (the 8(b) Recapitulation, B1, B2, C and D blocks), as instructed. Section/caption lines without values transcribed as label-only rows: the A/B/B1/B2/C/D headings, the four centered "Recapitulation^1" lines, and the two stub captions "Subsections of sec. 8(a)" and "Subsections of sec. 8(b)." (each printed flush left on its own line, with the indented "Total cases" line carrying the figures directly below; I kept them as separate rows rather than joining them into one label). Punctuation uncertainty: the scan is a 1-bit halftone and many periods are faint or dropped. The period after the letter in the section headings and after "sec" is clearly visible in "B. Charges filed against unions under sec. 8(b)" but is faint/invisible in "A ... sec 8(a)", "B1 Analysis of 8(b)(4)", "B2 Analysis of 8(b)(7)", "C Charges filed under sec 8(e)" and "D Charges filed under sec 8(g)"; I have rendered all of them with the periods on the assumption of consistent typesetting. The caption "Subsections of sec. 8(b)." appears to carry a trailing period (possibly a colon in the original) while "Subsections of sec. 8(a)" does not. Doubtful cell: in the right panel's second "Recapitulation^1" block (under B2), the value for 8(b)(7)(B) is printed as "23." with an apparent stray dot after it; I transcribed it as 23, treating the dot as a printing artifact. The same row in the B2 analysis block above reads 23 cleanly. Footnote markers: the superscript 1 on each "Recapitulation" line and the superscript 2 on the "8(a)(1)" label in the section A recapitulation are recorded with a caret. Both footnote texts lack visible terminal periods in the scan; I supplied them. Internal consistency (transcribed as printed, not corrected): the figures for 8(b)(4) (2,128 / 18.5) and 8(b)(7) (449 / 3.9) in the 8(b) Recapitulation are identical to their "Subsections of sec. 8(b)" values rather than larger, unlike the other 8(b) subsections; this matches the image. Also as printed, the 8(b)(7) recapitulation components (82 + 23 + 345 = 450) exceed the 449 total cases 8(b)(7). Caption, any "—Continued" line, running head and page number omitted per instructions.
