Analysis of Elections Conducted in Representation Cases Closed, Transition Quarter (July–September 1976)

Layout: one stub column plus four column groups (All R, RC, RM, RD elections), each group headed "Elections conducted" spanning its four columns (Total elections; Withdrawn or dismissed before certification; Resulting in a rerun or runoff; Resulting in certification) — 17 columns in all. The footnote marker 1 is printed only on the All R "Resulting in certification" heading. Doubtful / inconsistent cells: - "Regional director-directed", RD elections / Total elections: the glyph reads 35 and is transcribed as printed, but it does not reconcile — the row's own RD cells are 0 + 0 + 33, and 390 (RC) + 15 (RM) + 33 would give the printed All R total of 438. A printed 33 would make everything consistent, so 35 is most likely a misprint (or, less likely, a scan artifact). - "Stipulated elections", RD elections / Resulting in a rerun or runoff: this cell appears blank on the image (no 0 and no dash visible), unlike the same column in every other section row; left as "". The corresponding "Rerun required"/"Runoff required" sub-rows both show 0 there, so the intended value is presumably 0. Scan quality: the image loses small dots and fine strokes — many headings render with dotless i ("Electıons conducted", "certıfıcatıon"), and the RD group headings render as "befcre certification" and "rerun or runlff". These are degraded glyphs of the same wording used in the other three groups and are transcribed with the intended spelling. For the same reason the period in the row label "Expedited—sec. 8(b)(7)(C)" and the final period of the footnote are not clearly visible on the image; both have been written with the period. The "Rerun required" and "Runoff required" sub-rows carry a value only in each group's "Resulting in a rerun or runoff" column; all their other cells are leader-dot/dash rules and are transcribed as "". All other arithmetic checks out (section totals sum to 2,309 and 2,277; RC + RM + RD equals All R in every row except the RD regional-director cell noted above).
