Reader’s notes

p. 251. Three printed columns; one heading level. The table has no printed section-label rows: the indented "Before 10(k) notice" / "After ..." lines belong to the unindented category above them ("Agreement of the parties—informal settlement", "Withdrawal", "Dismissal"), each of which carries its own values. Three of the row labels repeat verbatim under different categories, which is as printed. Decimal points: in the percent column the period is faint or dropped by the scan in several cells, which print as "46 1", "3 5" (twice), "35 6" and "11 3". I have transcribed these as 46.1, 3.5, 3.5, 35.6 and 11.3, matching the other cells in the column (100.0, 49.6, 33.9, 1.7, 11.3) and the column's arithmetic (46.1+3.5=49.6; 33.9+1.7=35.6; 49.6+3.5+35.6+11.3=100.0). No digits are in doubt, only the missing points. Percent cells for the five rows whose case count is 0 are printed as a dash rule and are given as "". Case counts and percents both sum to the printed totals (57+4+41+13=115). The caption's footnote marker 1 (on "(July–September 1976)") is part of the omitted caption. Scan artifacts make some "i" dots and periods drop out in the row labels (e.g. "Comphance", "decision"); labels are given with standard spelling.
