Two suspected misprints, both in the "Valid votes cast for unions — Total" column, transcribed as printed: "Lumber and wood products (except furniture)" reads 51,121 and "Printing, publishing, and allied industries" reads 51,161 (each is set to the full five-digit width of the column, not indented like the neighbouring four-digit entries). Both look like an extra leading digit: the four union components sum to 5,121 and 5,161 respectively, those values plus the "Total votes for no union" entry equal the printed "Total valid votes cast" for each row, and the column adds to the printed Manufacturing total of 112,904 only with 5,121 and 5,161. Nothing was corrected. Every other cell was reconciled: each row's four union components sum to its printed "Total", "Total" + "no union" equals total valid votes cast, union wins + no representative equals total elections, and all 16 numeric columns sum to the printed "Manufacturing" line. The stub heading carries a raised footnote marker 1 ("Industrial group^1"), but no footnote text appears within this crop; it is presumably printed below the continuation of the table. The crop ends at the "Manufacturing" subtotal and its double rule, so the nonmanufacturing sections and any grand total continue on later pages. The scan renders hyphens in "AFL–CIO" as an en dash; written as "AFL-CIO".

p. 261. This crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed on it, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 17 columns (stub + 16 numeric), counted from the column rules and confirmed by the 16 values in every data row. Column alignment was verified arithmetically: the three subtotal rows each sum their member rows exactly in all 16 numeric columns (Mining = Metal mining + Coal mining + Crude petroleum + Mining and quarrying; Transportation, communication, and other utilities = the six rows from "Local and suburban transit..." through "Electric, gas, and sanitary services"; Services = the eleven rows from "Hotels, rooming houses..." through "Miscellaneous services"). No discrepancies found. The grand total row ("Total, all industrial groups") is far larger than the rows visible here because the table begins on the previous page (manufacturing and other divisions are cut off above the top of this crop); it is transcribed as printed and should not be checked against this page alone. Likewise, "Construction", "Wholesale trade", "Retail trade", "Finance, insurance, and real estate" and "U.S. Postal Service" carry no subtotal line on this page, as printed. Minor scan artifacts, all read with confidence: a stray speck sits just left of the "5" in column 3 of "Water transportation"; a stray dot appears in the white space in column 8 between the "Retail trade" and "Finance, insurance, and real estate" rows. Neither is a footnote marker or digit. Hyphenation repaired in two row labels: "nonmetal-/lic" to "nonmetallic" and "communica-/tion" to "communication". No footnote markers are attached to any value, row label or heading on this crop; the single printed footnote is the source line below the table rule.
