p. 258. Single-panel table, 17 columns, two heading levels. The crop ends after Tennessee: the Region IV subtotal line and any further regions (and any footnote text, including the text for the raised "1" on the stub heading "Standard Federal regions") continue on the following page and are not on this image. One doubtful cell: Puerto Rico, column "Valid votes cast for unions — Teamsters". It is printed (and reads in the scan) as "1, 455", transcribed here as "1,455", but it is arithmetically inconsistent in two independent ways: the Puerto Rico row's union-vote components (1,004 + 1,455 + 9 + 2,041 = 4,509) do not match the printed row total 3,509, and the Region II Teamsters column (72 + 1,124 + 1,565 + 1,455 + 0 = 4,216) does not match the printed regional total 3,216. Both reconcile exactly if the value were 455, so the leading "1," is most likely a misprint or a scan artifact. Transcribed as printed per instructions. Every other value in the grid was cross-checked against its row and column totals and is internally consistent (Regions I, II and III all balance across all 16 numeric columns; each Region IV state row balances on elections won + no representative = total elections, on the four union-vote components summing to the union total, and on union total + no-union votes = total valid votes cast). Kentucky, "Valid votes cast for unions — AFL-CIO unions" prints slightly broken in the scan; read as 1,695, which is confirmed by the row's component sum (1,695 + 630 + 486 + 409 = 3,220). The scan's "AFL–CIO" uses an en-dash-like rule in the headings; normalized to a hyphen. Digit-grouping spaces after commas ("7, 231") were closed up as instructed.

The grid is 17 columns (stub + 16 data columns), counted from the column rules and confirmed by the body. The top row, "Region IV", is a regional total whose State rows fall on the preceding page; Regions I-III are likewise not on this crop. The table has strong internal arithmetic, which I used to settle every doubtful glyph: col 1 = col 2 + col 7; col 2 = col 3 + col 4 + col 5 + col 6; col 9 = col 10 + col 15; col 10 = col 11 + col 12 + col 13 + col 14. Every row and every regional column total checks out as transcribed, with no residual discrepancies. Worn/ambiguous glyphs, each resolved by two independent checks (its own row identity and its regional column total): - Kansas, col 1: read as 76 (the 6 is filled in and resembles an 8). 35 + 41 = 76, and Region VII col 1 = 459 requires 76. - Michigan, col 13: read as 2,622 (first interior digit could be taken for a 3). 5,907 + 1,630 + 2,622 + 666 = 10,825, and Region V col 13 = 7,618 requires 2,622. - Colorado, col 11: read as 1,626 (not 1,826). 1,626 + 256 + 96 + 368 = 2,346, and Region VIII col 11 = 2,381 requires 1,626. - Utah, col 12: read as 156 (not 158). 140 + 156 + 49 + 0 = 345, and Region VIII col 12 = 772 requires 156. - Region IX, col 11: read as 16,925 (the 6 is broken and resembles a 3). 843 + 14,408 + 1,239 + 435 = 16,925, and 16,925 + 6,634 + 1,784 + 1,555 = 26,898 = col 10. - Minnesota, col 13 is genuinely the two-digit value 77, not a truncated three-digit number: 1,928 + 1,052 + 77 + 435 = 3,492 = col 10. Other marks: a small isolated ink dot sits just left of Illinois's col 2 value (177); it is page dirt, not a footnote marker or a digit, and is not transcribed. The row rules under each regional total are double rules and carry no data. No cell on this crop is illegible beyond the cases listed above, and no column is cut off by the crop.
