Reader’s notes
p. 244. Stub column has no printed heading; both heading levels carry "" for cell 0. The "By both parties" heading carries a raised footnote marker that is degraded in the scan but matches the second footnote's marker, transcribed as ^2 (the footnote's own marker likewise prints as a blurred superscript 2). Decimal points drop out of the 1-bit scan in many percent cells, which print as a gap (e.g. "100 0", "40 8", "56 9", "2 3", "69 1", "82 2", "63 6", "77 8", "54 7", "11 1", "100 0" in several rows). These are faded periods — every such cell is a one-decimal percentage and sibling rows show the period clearly — so they are transcribed with the decimal point. "Expedited elections", By employer / Percent by type: the cell holds only a dash rule, transcribed as "". Its Number cell is a printed 0. "By type of case" is followed by a mark that is either a colon or a stray speck; no punctuation was added to the label. All arithmetic checks out as printed (467+652+26=1,145; panel subtotals by type of case and by type of election each sum to 1,145), which corroborates the ambiguous digits "652", "26", "586" and "751". The second footnote ends at the right edge of the crop with "counted as one"; it may continue on a line below the crop (likely "...as one objection").
