Reader’s notes

p. 218. Eight columns: stub, Total, and six columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party". The stub column has no printed heading. "Total" is a tall single heading spanning both heading levels, so it is repeated in both. The seven case-type lines (CA cases, CB cases, ... CP cases) are centred section headings printed across the data area, not in the stub column; they are transcribed as label-only rows. The same five row labels (Pending July 1, 1975 / Received fiscal 1976 / On docket fiscal 1976 / Closed fiscal 1976 / Pending June 30, 1976) repeat under each section. Verification: every data row's six filing-party cells sum exactly to the printed Total, and in every panel and every column Pending July 1 + Received = On docket and On docket - Closed = Pending June 30. No misprints or internal inconsistencies were found. One cell needed care: in the CE panel, "Closed fiscal 1976", the Teamsters "1" is set hard against the column rule separating it from "Other national unions", so at first pass it can read as an extra digit. Both the row sum (3+1+0+11+11+83=109) and the column arithmetic (Teamsters 1-0=1; Other national unions 0-0=0) confirm Teamsters = 1 and Other national unions = 0 as transcribed. In the scan the AFL-CIO heading is set as "AFL-CIO unions" with a short rule between AFL and CIO; transcribed with a plain hyphen. The caption's footnote marker 1 ties to the single footnote below the table; the caption itself is omitted as instructed.
