The crop ends just below the "Manufacturing" subtotal and its double rule; the table continues on the following page with the nonmanufacturing industry groups and the grand total, which are not on this image. No footnote text is printed within the crop, so `footnotes` is empty even though the stub heading carries a raised "1" marker (transcribed as "Industrial group ^1"); the text of footnote 1 must be on the continuation page. Verification: every numeric column of the 22 industry rows sums exactly to the printed "Manufacturing" figure (e.g. total elections 3,742; employees eligible 340,647; total valid votes cast 307,976; valid votes for unions 142,150; total votes for no union 165,826; eligible employees in units choosing representation 106,203), and in each row the four union-type components add to the row's "Total" in both the elections-won block and the valid-votes block. No misprints detected. Minor scan artifacts only, none affecting a value: a stray speck precedes the "9" in the "no representative was chosen" column of "Automotive and other transportation equipment" (the value is 9), and similar specks sit left of "1,050" (Textile mill products, Teamsters votes) and "0" (Leather and leather products, other local votes). The scan shows faint stray marks in the header whitespace that are not characters.

p. 258. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 17 columns (stub + 16 numeric), counted from the column rules and confirmed on the "Total, all industrial groups" line. Arithmetic check: I verified every subtotal block against its component rows. The "Mining" block (4 rows), the "Transportation, communication, and other utilities" block (7 rows) and the "Services" block (11 rows) reconcile exactly in all 16 columns, with one exception — in the transportation block, column 11 sums to 13,539 but the subtotal is printed as 13,599, a difference of 60. The likeliest source is "Transportation services", column 11, which I read as 933; if it were 993 the column would balance. The glyph is ambiguous between 3 and 9 at this scan resolution, so I have transcribed it as printed (933) and flag it here rather than correcting it. Other cells in that column that could instead carry the discrepancy are "Motor freight transportation and warehousing" (read as 4, with a stray speck just above and left of the digit) and "Electric, gas, and sanitary services" (read as 1,838). Minor scan artifacts, none affecting the values: "Construction", column 8, prints with a stray mark inside the number ("7,'505"); transcribed as 7,505. The stub label for the Postal Service row is printed "U S. Postal Service" (space, no period after the U) and is kept as printed. The group Construction / Wholesale trade / Retail trade / Finance, insurance, and real estate / U S. Postal Service has no printed subtotal row, so it could not be cross-checked. The grand total row could not be checked because the earlier industry groups are on the preceding page. The footnote marker on "Source" is a raised 1. The gap after "Source" may hold a faint colon or period lost in the scan; transcribed with a plain space.
