Reader’s notes
p. 240. 12 columns: stub plus "Total elections" (a tall single heading spanning both heading levels) plus five two-column pairs. The stub heading is blank in this table. Decimal points: the scan drops or badly fades the decimal point in many Percent cells, which print as a gap (e.g. "9 7", "11 5", "13 3", "12 8", "6 1", "5 2", "8 0", "2 1", "4 0", "2 0"). All of these are one-decimal percentages and have been transcribed with the decimal point restored (9.7, 11.5, 13.3, 12.8, 6.1, 5.2, 8.0, 2.1, 4.0, 2.0). No digits were changed. Every such reading is confirmed by the printed Number and Total elections in the same row. "Objections and challenges / Number" for "Consent elections" and for "Board-directed elections": each digit is preceded in the scan by a speck that reads like a decimal point (".8" and ".6"). A count column cannot hold a fractional value, and the row and column arithmetic fixes them as 8 and 6 (51 + 8 = 59 and 15 + 8 = 23 for Consent; 5 + 6 = 11 and 11 + 6 = 17 for Board-directed; the column also sums 8 + 112 + 0 + 35 + 6 = 161). Transcribed as "8" and "6", treating the mark as scanner dirt. Note that the adjacent Percent cell for Consent elections genuinely is ".8" (printed without a leading zero) and is kept as such. "By type of case" is followed in the print by a single small dot, almost certainly a surviving leader dot (the parallel section line "By type of election" has none); it has been dropped. Row label letterspacing in the print makes some labels look split ("A ll representation elections", "In R C cases"); transcribed closed up. "Expedited elections" has a dash rule (no value) in three Percent cells: Challenges only, Objections and challenges, and Total challenges; these are "". Arithmetic consistency: all row and column sums check out (8,052 + 338 + 526 = 8,916; 1,008 + 6,094 + 15 + 1,713 + 86 = 8,916; Objections only + Objections and challenges = Total objections in every row; Challenges only + Objections and challenges = Total challenges in every row). No misprints detected.
