Reader’s notes

p. 234. Decimal points in the percent columns: in this scan many decimal points failed to reproduce, so a number of percent cells read on the image as e.g. \"100 0\", \"88 4\", \"5 9\", \"2 6\", \"0 4\". Every percent column in this table is printed to one decimal place, and each column's entries sum to 100.0 (CA sums to 100.1 by rounding), so these have been transcribed with the decimal point restored: \"100.0\", \"88.4\", \"5.9\", \"2.6\", \"0.4\", etc. No digits were altered. Stub of the first body row is printed with a broken letter space, reading \"Tota lnumber of cases closed\"; transcribed as \"Total number of cases closed\". \"All C cases\" / \"CA cases\" row 6 (\"After Board order adopting administrative law judge's decision in absence of exceptions\"), All C Number column: the figure 274 is followed by a small raised mark. It appears to be a speck or a broken quotation-mark artifact rather than a footnote marker (the table's only footnote marker is on the caption), and the column arithmetic confirms the value: 26,339 + 1,773 + 274 + 14 + 274 + 764 + 332 + 38 = 29,808, the printed total. Transcribed as \"274\" with no marker. A similar stray comma-like mark follows \"2 6\" in the same column in row 7 (\"After Board decision, before circuit court decree\"); transcribed as \"2.6\". Dash rules: percent cells printed as a row of dashes (e.g. CD column in rows 4, 5, 9; CE and CG columns in several rows; CP column in rows 5 and 9) are given as \"\" per instructions. Printed zeros in the Number columns are kept as \"0\". Arithmetic check: every one of the eight Number columns sums exactly to its printed total (29,808; 19,144; 7,419; 2,101; 557; 81; 25; 481). No misprints detected.
