p. 254. Twelve columns: stub plus 11 numeric columns. The stub column carries no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. "Total proceedings", "Total dispositions" and "Pending in district court June 30, 1974" are tall single headings spanning both levels; "Injunction proceedings" spans 2 columns and "Disposition of injunctions" spans 6. Row "Under sec 10(e), total": the Total proceedings cell is printed as a small raised 1 followed by 2, transcribed "2^1" (the raised 1 is the footnote marker "In courts of appeals"). The scan is speckled: scattered apostrophe- and comma-like specks sit beside many cells (e.g. beside "70", "204", several zeros in the 10(j) block); these were treated as dirt, not characters. Two doubtful cells, both in the sec. 10(j) detail block, where a speck sits next to the digit and could be read as a "1": - Row "8(a)(1)(3)(5)", Settled column: read as 0 (a stray "1"-like mark appears to its left, outside the column's right-aligned digit position). - Row "8(a)(1)(5)", Dismissed column: read as 0. These readings were chosen because with them every row (granted+denied+settled+withdrawn+dismissed+inactive = total dispositions; pending July 1 + filed = total proceedings; total proceedings - total dispositions = pending June 30) and every column of the 10(j) block reproduces the printed totals exactly (Settled 3, Dismissed 1, Total dispositions 14). Reading either cell as "1" would break both its own row total and its column total. No cells were altered beyond this disambiguation. All other blocks verify arithmetically: every row and all 11 columns of the sec. 10(l) block sum to the printed "Under sec 10(l), total" line, and the 10(e) row is internally consistent. No printed figure appears to be a misprint.
