  1. 1 Sec. 8(a)(3) of the Act requires that to revoke a union-shop agreement, a majority of the employees eligible to vote must vote in favor of deauthorization.

40 of 40 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 234. The scan renders decimal points in the percent columns as blank space (e.g. "58 5", "67 0"); these are decimal points in the original typesetting and are transcribed as such. Arithmetic confirms this reading throughout: each percent equals the adjacent count divided by the panel total (e.g. 69/118 = 58.5, 6,261/9,345 = 67.0, 1,301/2,160 = 60.2). The four detail rows also sum exactly to every printed figure in the Total row (67+40+3+8 = 118; 5,196+1,609+380+2,160 = 9,345; 2,364+844+189+1,301 = 4,698), so no misprints are apparent. The footnote's abbreviation is printed "Sec 8(a)(3)" with the period after "Sec" lost to the scan; likewise the trailing period of the footnote sentence is not visible. The heading footnote marker is a raised 1 at the end of "Employees involved (number eligible to vote)". Scan quality is poor enough that the letters "ri"/"rı" and "ti"/"tı" lose their dots in several headings (e.g. "Resulting in", "authorization"), but the words themselves are unambiguous. A faint mark appears in the right margin beside the header band, outside the table's rightmost rule; it is not a data cell. Column 12 ("Percent of total eligible" under Valid votes cast) carries a small stray tick in the header area of the scan, not a value.
