30 of 33 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out. 1 cell breaks a sum: 'TOTALS', column 11: prints 41,565, rows 'C CASES' to 'R, UD AC, AND UC CAS' add to 41,566.

Reader’s notes

p. 31. The image is a bar chart (Chart No. 14, headed "CASES CLOSED") with a small data table printed below the plot area; only that data table is transcribed. The chart's y-axis label ("Cases") and its scale values (0 through 42,000 in 3,000 steps) are plot furniture, not table columns, and are omitted, as are the chart title and the "Chart No. 14" caption. Row labels are keyed to legend patches (a solid black patch before "C CASES", a horizontal-hatch patch before the second row); the patches themselves are not transcribed. The second label is printed on three lines, "R, UD AC," / "AND" / "UC CASES", joined here as one label; it is likely intended to read "R, UD, AC, AND UC CASES" but no comma is visible after "UD" in this scan. Digit-grouping commas are missing (or lost in the scan) in four cells, which are printed as "16 360" (C CASES, 1967), "27 016" (C CASES, 1974), "30 750" (TOTALS, 1968) and "41 100" (TOTALS, 1974); I have written them with commas, consistent with every other cell in the table. No other value had an ambiguous separator. Discrepancy: in the 1973 column the two components as read (26,989 and 14,577) sum to 41,566, but the TOTALS cell reads 41,565. The last digit of that total is the least legible character in the table; it is transcribed as printed/as read, uncorrected. Every other column's components sum exactly to the printed total. The 1971 "13,360" (second row) is also slightly soft — the 6 could be misread as a 5 — but 13,360 is the value consistent with the printed 1971 total of 37,200.
