Reader’s notes
p. 263. Decimal points: this scan drops most periods, so the same value is printed both as "100.0" (e.g. the Supreme Court row) and as "100 0" (e.g. the review/enforcement row). Since the gap is uniformly one decimal place and the clear instances confirm the intended form, every percentage has been transcribed with its decimal point restored: "70 5" -> 70.5, "84 6" -> 84.6, "11 6" -> 11.6, "5 8" -> 5.8, "4 8" -> 4.8, "0 4" -> 0.4, "1 9" -> 1.9, "12 7" -> 12.7, "40 0" -> 40.0, "60 0" -> 60.0, "17 7" -> 17.7, "4 3" -> 4.3, "73 3" -> 73.3, "66 7" -> 66.7, "33 3" -> 33.3, "25 0" -> 25.0. No digits were altered. The same period loss affects text: the stub reads "U S. courts of appeals" and the headings read "Vs em-ployers only" / "Vs both em-ployers and unions" in the Percentages block while the Number block prints "Vs." with a visible period. These have been normalized to "U.S." and "Vs.". Footnote periods (sentence ends, "N.L.R.B.", "v.", "406 U.S. 272") were likewise restored. The stub column has no printed heading; the only mark in that area of the header is a small ink smudge, so the stub cell is empty at all three heading levels. Row 16, "Remanded to Board" in the Supreme Court section, prints "3 3" in the Total column; the second character is a raised footnote marker keyed to footnote 3, so the cell is transcribed as 3^3. Cells holding only a dash rule ("----", "- -", "--") are rendered as "". The dash runs are of uneven length and some are very faint, but in every case they sit where a percentage or cumulative figure is not applicable, not where a value was lost. Arithmetic as printed: in the "On petitions for review and/or enforcement" block the Total column sums to 350 (252+37+17+2+42) and the employers-only column to 292, both matching their printed subtotals. The Supreme Court detail rows sum to 6 in Total (3+0+0+3+0+0+0+0) and 4 in employers-only, also matching. Nothing was computed or corrected.
