Representation Cases Received, Closed, and Pending, Fiscal Year 1972

p. 237. Single-panel table, 8 columns: stub, Totals, and the six "Identification of filing party" columns. The stub has no printed heading; "Totals" spans both heading levels. "RC cases", "RM cases" and "RD cases" are centred band headings that span the table width and carry no values; they are given as label-only rows. In the RM band all six filing-party columns except Employers are dash rules (""), and in the RC and RD bands the Employers column is a dash rule (""). DOUBTFUL CELL: row "Received fiscal 1972" in the RC band, column "Other national unions". I read the printed glyphs as 750 and have transcribed them as such, but the arithmetic points to 759 from two independent directions: (a) the row would then sum to the printed total, 6,509 + 3,750 + 759 + 630 + 18 = 11,666 (with 750 it sums to 11,657); (b) the column requires 190 + 759 = 949, the printed "On docket fiscal 1972" figure (with 750 it gives 940). The final digit is small and the loop may be filled in this scan, so a printed 9 misread as 0 is plausible; the alternative is an error in the original printing. The cell should be re-checked against a higher-resolution image before use. Note also that the adjacent Teamsters cell in the same row is clearly 3,750, which may have biased my reading of this cell. Every other value reconciles: in all three bands each row sums across the filing-party columns to the printed Totals figure, Pending July 1, 1971 + Received = On docket, and On docket - Closed = Pending June 30, 1972. The caption ("Table 1B.-Representation Cases Received, Closed, and Pending, Fiscal Year 1972 1", which carries footnote marker 1) has been omitted as instructed; the footnote text itself is retained.
