Total Cases Received, Closed, and Pending, Fiscal Year 1972

p. 235. Eight columns: stub, Total, and six columns under the spanner "Identification of filing party". The stub has no printed heading; "Total" is a tall heading spanning both heading levels. The six section lines ("All cases", "Unfair labor practice cases", etc.) are printed as centered banners across the data columns and carry no values. Doubtful cell: Representation cases, row "Pending June 30, 1972", column Employers. It is printed as "17", which is what I transcribed, but it is almost certainly a short or dropped digit: the row sums to 3,046 against the printed Total of 3,200 (short by 154), and the column arithmetic On docket (1,195) minus Closed (1,024) gives 171, which would make the row sum exactly 3,200. Every other one of the 29 data rows in the table sums across to its printed Total exactly, and every section satisfies pending + received = on docket = closed + pending. Treat this one cell as 17-as-printed with 171 the likely intended value. In the "Union-shop deauthorization cases" section the AFL-CIO, Teamsters, Other national, Other local and Employers columns hold dash rules (leaders), transcribed as empty cells; only Total and Individuals carry figures, and they are identical, as expected for individual-filed cases. Footnote 1 is attached to the caption ("Fiscal Year 1972 1"), which is omitted per instructions, but the footnote text itself is retained in footnotes.
