Reader’s notes

p. 182. 8 columns: stub plus 7 data columns; the stub column carries no printed heading, so cell 0 of both heading levels is empty. The spanner heads "Overruled" and "Sustained" each cover a Number and a Percent column and are repeated across both. The footnote marker printed after the "Sustained" spanner is a small raised glyph that reads more like a 3 than a 2 in this scan, but only footnotes 1 and 2 are printed under the table, and footnote 2's text is about elections in which objections were sustained, so it is transcribed as "Sustained^2". "Expedited elections", Sustained / Percent of total ruled upon: the cell holds only a dashed leader rule, transcribed as "". Typesetting spaces after commas and decimal points ("1, 155", "75. 4", "24. 6") were closed up per instructions. All row and column sums and all computed percentages in the printed grid are internally consistent, so no suspected misprints. Footnote 1 is printed without a closing period, as transcribed. The caption's footnote marker 1 attaches to the omitted caption line.
