692 of 692 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.
p. 169. Crop shows only the manufacturing portion of the table, ending with the "Manufacturing" subtotal row and a double rule; the nonmanufacturing section and any footnote texts continue on following pages. The stub heading carries a raised footnote marker ("Industrial group^2") but no footnote text appears within this crop. Two glyphs are degraded in this 1-bit scan and were resolved by arithmetic: - "Ordnance and accessories", column "All C cases": the glyph could read 103 or 108. Transcribed as 103, which is both the row sum (63+37+3 = 103) and required by the column total (the column then sums exactly to the printed 10,965). - "Chemicals and allied products", column "All cases": the glyph could read 959 or 969. Transcribed as 959, which equals the row sum (541+400+3+5+10) and makes the column sum exactly to the printed 17,204; 969 would overshoot the printed total by 10. All 15 numeric columns were checked against the printed "Manufacturing" line and every one sums exactly, and every data row's "All cases" equals All C + All R + UD + AC + UC, so no misprint is suspected in the table as transcribed.
p. 170. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 16 cells per row: the stub plus 15 printed value columns (column rules counted across the page). The table continues from the preceding page, so the industry groups above Mining (agriculture, manufacturing, etc.) are not on this image; the bottom edge clips the descenders of the footnote line but it remains legible. Doubtful cell: "Total, all industrial groups", column 9 (the column whose block subtotals are 126 / 609 / 1,079 / 2,050 / 176 / 1,365 / 1,600). At this scan resolution the third digit is ambiguous between 6 and 8; it renders close to "12,985". I transcribed it as 12,965 because that is the only reading consistent with the same row's parts (10,904 + 1,119 + 942 = 12,965) and with the row total (23,770 + 12,965 + 168 + 86 + 223 = 37,212). The 6/8 glyphs are generally hard to separate in this 1-bit scan; elsewhere in the same column arithmetic resolves them the same way (e.g. 1,365 and 526). Minor stray marks on the scan that are not part of any value: a speck left of "Construction", a speck left of "391" in the Communications row, specks left of "995" and "569" in the Miscellaneous business services row, a tick above "1,803" in the Transportation subtotal row, a tick before "6" in the Transportation subtotal AC column, and a tick after "32" in the Miscellaneous business services RM column. All block subtotal rows (Mining, Transportation/communication/other utilities, Services) and every detail row reconcile with their printed components, so column placement is confirmed by arithmetic throughout. Note on structure: Construction, Wholesale trade, Retail trade, and Finance, insurance, and real estate carry no separate subtotal lines because each is itself a one-line industrial group; they are transcribed as printed.
