  1. 1 See "Glossary" for definitions of terms.
  2. 2 See table 11E for rerun elections held after objections were sustained. In 70 elections in which objections were sustained, 66 were subsequently withdrawn. In 4 elections the outcome was decided by ruling on challenges, therefore, in these cases no rerun elections were conducted.

44 of 44 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 186. The table has a stub plus 6 data columns under two heading levels; the stub has no printed heading, so cell 0 of both header rows is empty. The "Objections filed", "Objections withdrawn" and "Objections ruled upon" headings are tall single headings spanning both levels, so they are repeated in level 2. Decimal points in the percent columns are frequently broken or invisible in this scan (e.g. "All representation elections" prints as "69 6" and "30 4"; "RC cases" as "69 2"; "RM cases" as "81 4"; "Consent elections" as "63 5"). All percent entries in the table are one-decimal values and the ones that reproduce cleanly ("53.8", "69.6", "85.7", "71.9", "76.0") confirm the pattern, so these have been transcribed with the decimal point. Similarly, "1, 207" and "1, 133" are printed with a space after the comma and are written without it. The two section labels end with a mark that reproduces as a single raised dot; it is read as a colon ("By type of case:", "By type of election:"), consistent with the usual typesetting of these NLRB stub headings. It is not a footnote marker. The row label "Regional director-directed elections" is printed on two lines, broken as "elec-/tions", and has been joined. The footnote 2 text has faint sentence periods after "sustained" and "withdrawn"; these are transcribed as periods. Arithmetic checks out everywhere: the three case-type rows and the five election-type rows each sum to the "All representation elections" line in every count column, and no printed total appears to be in error.
