Reader’s notes

p. 179. Three printed columns, one heading level. The table has no section-label-only rows; the four method rows (Agreement of the parties—informal settlement, Compliance with Board decision and determination of dispute, Withdrawal, Dismissal) carry their own subtotal values and are followed by indented stage rows, which is why the indented labels repeat verbatim under Agreement, Withdrawal and Dismissal. Typesetting detail: the percent column is set with a space after the decimal point ("100. 0", "54. 8", "0. 1"); transcribed closed up as 100.0, 54.8, 0.1 etc., the same convention the instructions give for "8, 044". Four percent cells are printed as a dashed leader rule rather than a value and are given as "": the "After opening of 10(k) hearing, before issuance of Board decision and determination of dispute" row under Withdrawal, and the "After 10(k) notice, before opening of 10(k) hearing" and "After opening of 10(k) hearing..." rows under Dismissal. Each of those rows has a printed 0 in the Number of cases column, so the blank percent is the source's own convention, not a crop loss. The scan is heavily inked and 1-bit, so several digits (the 6s, 8s and 0s in particular) are partly filled; every reading here is corroborated by the table's own arithmetic. Components sum to their subtotals (330+33+1=364; 196+8+0+9=213; 52+0+0+5=57) and the four subtotals sum to the printed total 664, with percents 54.8+4.5+32.1+8.6=100.0. No misprint detected. The caption's footnote marker (Fiscal Year 1970 ^1) ties to the single footnote; the caption itself is omitted per instructions.
