Column grouping: "Unfair labor practice cases" spans the seven columns All C cases, CA, CB, CC, CD, CE and CP; "Representation cases" spans All R cases, RC, RM and RD. This is confirmed arithmetically throughout (e.g. Maine: CA 19 + CB 3 + CC 7 + CD 3 + CE 0 + CP 2 = All C 34; RC 41 + RM 3 + RD 5 = All R 49). Suspected misprint: Ohio, "All C cases" is printed as 1,162, but it is inconsistent with the rest of the table in two independent ways — the Ohio row components (761 + 236 + 65 + 72 + 1 + 17) sum to 1,152, and the East North Central subtotal of 4,528 requires 1,152 for Ohio (480 + 1,533 + 1,033 + 330 = 3,376). Ohio's "All cases" of 1,924 also only works with 1,152. The glyph read as 6 is most likely a scanned 5, but it is transcribed as printed per instruction. Illinois, "All C cases" is typeset as "1 533" with a space where the comma belongs (comma faint or dropped in the scan); written as 1,533. Kansas, "All cases": the leading digit is broken/lowered in the scan and could be read as a subscript, but it is a 2 — 272 is confirmed by the West North Central subtotal (2,468) and by the row components (164 + 106 + 2 = 272). Row labels "East North Central" and "West North Central" are each printed on two lines and joined here into one row each. Leader dots after row labels dropped. Every other row and column in the table cross-foots exactly against its printed subtotal.

p. 218. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 16 columns (stub + 15 numeric), counted from the column rules and confirmed by the body. The crop also begins mid-table: the South Atlantic group's first states (Delaware and Maryland, on the preceding page) are not shown, so the seven South Atlantic state rows here do not sum to the printed "South Atlantic" subtotal. Every group whose members are fully shown (East South Central, West South Central, Mountain, Pacific, Outlying Areas) sums exactly to its printed subtotal in all 15 columns, and the "Total, all States and areas" row is internally consistent. Each state row also satisfies the table's internal identities (col 2 = cols 3-8; col 9 = cols 10-12; col 1 = col 2 + col 9 + cols 13-15), which independently confirms the digits and the column each sits in. Two readings worth flagging, both confirmed by those checks: West Virginia column 8 is 77 (far larger than its neighbours, but 137+62+37+7+0+77 = 320 = its column 2), and Oklahoma column 14 is 0, preceded on the scan by a small stray speck that is dirt, not a digit or footnote marker (the West South Central column 14 subtotal of 9 = 3+3+0+3 requires Oklahoma to be 0). In footnote 2 the abbreviation is transcribed as printed, "U S"; any periods are lost in the scan. Stub labels printed on two lines ("East South Central", "West South Central", "Total, all States and areas") are joined into one line each.
