Reader’s notes

p. 216. Layout: the table is printed as two side-by-side panels, each with the same three columns (stub; "Number of cases showing specific allegations"; "Percent of total cases"). I have stacked them, all left-panel rows first (sections A and B through the 8(b) subsection detail), then the right-panel rows (the 8(b) RECAPITULATION, B1, B2 and C blocks), and given the heading row once. The left panel's heading prints as "Peicent of total cases" in this scan; it is "Percent of total cases" (as printed in the right panel). Decimal points: this is a 1-bit scan and the period is dropped from many cells of the percent column, which then read as e.g. "100 0", "6 7", "51 1", "26 1". Other cells in the same column retain a clear period ("1.3", "32.0", "70.3", "24.7"). I have written every percent cell with the decimal point, since the space is a dropout artifact of the same kind as the space that the typesetting leaves after a comma in "8, 044". No digits were altered. Section-line punctuation: "A CHARGES FILED AGAINST EMPLOYERS UNDER SEC. 8(a)", "C CHARGES FILED UNDER SEC. 8(e)", "B1 ANALYSIS OF 8(b)(4)" and "B2 ANALYSIS OF 8(b)(7)" show no period after the letter/number in this scan (unlike "B. CHARGES FILED AGAINST UNIONS UNDER SEC. 8(b)"); the periods have probably dropped out, but I transcribed them as they appear. Likewise "Subsections of Sec. 8(b)" is followed by what looks like a bare period while "Subsections of Sec. 8(a):" clearly carries a colon; I wrote a colon for both. Row structure: "Subsections of Sec. 8(a):" and "Subsections of Sec. 8(b):" are stub captions printed on their own line with no values, with an indented "Total cases" row carrying the figures beneath each; I kept them as separate rows rather than joining them into one wrapped label. Footnote markers: a raised 1 follows each of the four "RECAPITULATION" section lines, and a raised 2 follows the label "8(a)(1)" in the first recapitulation block. Crop: the footnote text is cut off by the bottom edge of the crop. Only the top halves of the letters of the first footnote line are visible (it begins roughly "1 A number of cases include allegations of violations of more than one subsection of the Act. Therefore the ..."), and the footnote 2 text is not visible at all, so I have left `footnotes` empty rather than guess. Internal checks: every recapitulation subtotal reproduces exactly from the detail rows as transcribed (e.g. 8(b)(1): 1,525+1,410+143+10+9+49+6+4+1+1 = 3,158; 8(a)(3): 6,071+264+233+1,285+156+87+25+8 = 8,129; 8(b)(4)(B): 1,230+60+24+2 = 1,316; 8(b)(7)(C): 277+3+4 = 284), and the percent cells agree with the counts against their stated totals. No misprints detected.
