  1. 1 A single case may include allegations of violation of more than one subsection of the Act. Therefore, the total of the various allegations is greater than the total number of cases.
  2. 2 Subsec. 8(a)(1) is a general provision forbidding any type of employer interference with the rights of the employees guaranteed by the Act, and therefore is included in all charges of employer unfair labor practices.

0 of 74 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 231. Layout: the table is printed as two side-by-side panels sharing one set of column headings (stub + "Number of cases showing specific allegations" + "Percent of total cases"). The left panel (sections A and B through row 8(b)(1)(2)(5)(6)) is transcribed first, then the right panel (the 8(b) RECAPITULATION through section C), one under the other. Scan artifacts: this is a 1-bit scan in which many periods failed to reproduce. In the percent column almost every decimal point is dropped or faint, so values print as e.g. "100 0", "8 2", "2 8", "10 3", "25 7", "4 0", "18 9", "0 3"; I have restored the decimal point in every such cell, since each is a one-decimal percentage and the surviving instances (e.g. 50.8, 21.8, 62.3, 70.7, 97.1) confirm the format. Likewise restored dropped abbreviation/sentence periods in "A.", "B2.", "SEC." (sections A, B, C), "Subsections of Sec. 8(a)"/"Sec. 8(b)", "Subsec. 8(a)(1)" and the footnote sentence ends; the printed glyphs for those periods are absent or nearly so on this image. Row labels: "Subsections of Sec. 8(a)" and "Subsections of Sec. 8(b)" are label-only lines printed directly above an indented "Total cases" row carrying the values, so each is given as its own valueless row. In "8(a)(1)(2)(3)(4)" (value 12) the "(2)" is partly broken up by ink loss but is legible. "RECAPITULATION" appears four times, each with a raised footnote 1; the 8(a)(1) row in the first recapitulation carries a raised 2. Arithmetic as printed (not altered): the recapitulation sub-totals exceed the stated totals, which footnote 1 explains (a case may allege several subsections). Note that 8(b)(4) is 1,815 (31.6 percent) in both the left-panel subsection list and the right-panel recapitulation, and 8(b)(7) is 528 (9.2 percent) in both — transcribed as printed.
