p. 229. The crop is the first page of Table 16; the body is cut off after "Ship and boat building and repairing" and the table continues on the following page. The stub heading carries footnote marker 1 ("Industrial group ^1"), but no footnote text is printed within this crop, so `footnotes` is empty. Suspected misprint: in the "Fabricated metal products (except machinery and transportation equipment)" row, the "won by unions / Total" cell is printed as 244, but the four union components in that row (273 + 46 + 18 + 7) sum to 344, and 564 total elections minus 220 elections with no representative chosen also gives 344. Transcribed as printed (244); the leading digit is a plausible scan/print ambiguity between 2 and 3. Every other row in the table is internally consistent (union components sum to the won-by-unions total, and union votes plus no-union votes equal total valid votes cast), which supports the rest of the grid. Slightly doubtful cells from blurred type, both in the last column ("Employees in units choosing representation"): "Chemicals and allied products" read as 13,363, and "Products of petroleum and coal" read as 3,332. Neither is arithmetically checkable against other columns. Column structure: 17 columns. The five-column span "Number of elections in which representation rights were won by unions" (Total, AFL-CIO unions, Teamsters, Other national unions, Other local unions) and the five-column span "Valid votes cast for unions" (same five sub-headings) are the only spanning heads; all other headings are tall single columns and are repeated in both heading levels.

Note the "Educational services" row: the printed value in the last column is 0 while column 15 is 15, which is unusual relative to the pattern of neighbouring rows but is transcribed exactly as printed.
