The crop is the first page of the table: it ends after Kansas (a double rule follows), so the remaining divisions/States and any footnote text (including the note keyed to the superscript 1 on the stub heading "Division and State") are on the continuation page and are not visible here. Doubtful cell: Maine, "Number of employees eligible to vote". The glyph after "3," is damaged in the scan; I read it as 6 and transcribed "3,612" as printed, but every other column of the New England block foots exactly to the division line, while this one does not: the six State values sum to 31,589 against the printed division total of 30,989 — a difference of exactly 600, which would vanish if the digit were 0 (3,012). Either the digit is a 0 and my read is wrong, or the State line is a misprint. All other arithmetic in the crop checks out (each State's union-vote components sum to its union total, union + no-union equals total valid votes cast, and the State lines foot to their division lines for every other column and division). Header misprint: in the "Valid votes cast for unions" panel the Teamsters column heading is set as "Team- sters sters", i.e. the syllable "sters" is repeated on an extra line; I transcribed it as "Teamsters". Typesetting details: New York's AFL-CIO valid votes is printed "23 717" with a space and no comma (transcribed 23,717); South Dakota's AFL-CIO valid votes is printed "1; 114" (transcribed 1,114); Rhode Island's AFL-CIO valid votes has a stray ink dot before "634"; Connecticut's won-elections "Total" has a stray mark after "49" that is ink damage, not a footnote marker (21+22+6+0 = 49 confirms the digits).

p. 228. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid is stub + 16 data columns, confirmed by the column rules and by every region subtotal. Verification: I cross-footed all six region blocks against their member states in all 16 columns, plus the internal relations col1 = col2 + col7 and col2 = col3 + col4 + col5 + col6 for every row. Everything ties except one cell: in the Mountain block, column 15 the member states as transcribed (Montana 267, Idaho 1,804, Wyoming 179, Colorado 1,501, New Mexico 272, Arizona 682, Utah 783, Nevada 298) sum to 5,786, while the printed Mountain subtotal is 5,789 — a 3-unit gap. Transcribed as printed; the discrepancy is either a printed error or a 3-off misread of one of those eight scanned figures (Montana 267, Wyoming 179 and Colorado 1,501 are the softest glyphs). Column 16 of the same block does tie at 7,048, so the problem is confined to column 15. Cells recovered from faint/broken print and confirmed by cross-footing: Florida col16 prints as "6 235" with the comma dropped (transcribed 6,235; column total 47,739 confirms); Oklahoma col8 first digit is broken and reads like "C" (transcribed 6,788; column total 56,632 confirms); Louisiana col11 first digit is damaged (transcribed 3,718; column total 23,201 confirms); Arkansas col16 last digit is speckled (transcribed 4,696; column total 35,177 confirms). Ink specks, not characters: a dash-like mark sits left of California's 496 (col2), a dot left of New Mexico's 19 (col2), a dot left of Idaho's 3,663 (col8) and of Idaho's 1,804 (col15), and a stray dot in the South Carolina/Georgia area near col6. None is a footnote marker and none is transcribed. Marks in the right-hand margin beside the West South Central block are page artifacts outside the table. Cut off by the crop: one explanatory line begins below the table's bottom rule and is sliced through mid-character, so only the upper halves of the letters survive. It is legible only in part — it concerns the States being grouped following the method used by the Bureau of the Census, U.S. Department of Commerce — but I cannot see a footnote marker on it or read it to the end, so I left footnotes empty rather than reconstruct it. Any further footnotes below it are outside the crop.
