Reader’s notes

p. 218. The table has 15 columns (stub + 5 under "Number of polls" + 5 under "Employees involved" + 4 under "Valid votes cast"). Footnote marker 1 is printed on the "Employees involved (number eligible to vote)" heading, but the footnote text itself falls below the bottom edge of the crop (only the very top of a line of type is visible at the lower right), so `footnotes` is empty; the footnote text should be recovered from the full page. In the "Other national unions" row every percent cell is printed as a dash rule (------) rather than a figure, and the "Valid votes cast / Percent of total eligible" cell in that row is blank or a dash (it is faint at this resolution); all are transcribed as "". The scan is a coarse 1-bit image in which 6, 0 and 5 are easily confused (e.g. "65.3" and "1,660" render close to "05.3" and "1,060"); the readings given were cross-checked against the printed arithmetic. Every internal consistency check passes: column parts sum to the printed totals (49+13+0+6=68; 32+8+0+5=45; 17+5+0+1=23; 3,554+780+0+443=4,777; 1,938+374+0+134=2,446; 1,616+406+0+309=2,331; 2,845+578+0+361=3,784; 1,660+317+0+123=2,100) and each printed percentage matches its ratio. No misprints detected.
