The crop ends mid-table: the last printed row is "Virginia", and the table continues on the following page (states from West Virginia onward, plus the remaining divisions, are not on this image). No footnote texts are printed on this crop, although footnote markers appear in the caption ("1") and in the stub heading "Division and State 2", so footnotes 1 and 2 must appear on a later page of the table. The UD (Union deauthorization cases) cell of the "Virginia" row is left as "": the bottom edge of the crop clips that part of the row and no digit is legible there. All other cells of the Virginia row are clearly printed. (For what it is worth, the row's own components add to the printed "All cases" figure of 323 only if UD is 0, but nothing is visible, so the cell is reported empty rather than filled in.) The table has 14 printed columns and three heading levels; "UD" is printed on its own third level only under "Union deauthorization cases", so the other headings are repeated down into that level. The stub heading "Division and State 2" and "All cases" are tall single headings spanning all three levels. Division rows (New England, Middle Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central, South Atlantic) carry their own totals and are transcribed as data rows, each followed by its indented member States, as printed. Spot checks of the printed arithmetic (component columns against "All C cases", "All R cases" and "All cases", and States against their division line) are internally consistent throughout the visible portion; nothing was altered. Digit-grouping spaces in the original typesetting (e.g. "27, 403") have been closed up to "27,403" per instructions.

p. 190. This crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed on it, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 14 columns (stub plus 13 numeric columns), counted from the vertical column rules. The crop begins mid-table. The five rows at the top (West Virginia through Florida) are the tail of the South Atlantic division, whose heading and regional total row fall on the earlier page. Rows labeled "East South Central", "West South Central", "Mountain", "Pacific" and "Outlying areas" are regional total lines, each printed flush left above its indented member States and set off by double rules. Label legibility: the "e" in "West South Central" is broken/faded in the scan, printing roughly as "W st South Central"; transcribed as "West South Central" on the strength of the parallel "East South Central" label and the member States listed under it. Several labels have light-struck dotted "i" characters (West Virginia, Florida, Mississippi, Washington, California, Hawaii, Virgin Islands) but the words are unambiguous. In the Alabama row there is a small stray ink mark in the gutter just right of the value 130 (column 10). It sits between the column rules rather than against the digits, is not raised to superscript height, and corresponds to no footnote marker printed under the table; I read it as a scan artifact and did not transcribe it. Arithmetic check: all 13 numeric columns of every regional total on this crop (East South Central, West South Central, Mountain, Pacific, Outlying areas) sum exactly to their member States as printed, which independently confirms both the digits and the column assignment for 28 of the 33 rows. The five South Atlantic States at the top could not be cross-checked, since their total is off-crop.
