p. 193. The crop is cut off at the bottom in the middle of the South Atlantic section: the last printed row visible is Maryland, and the table continues onto the rest of the page. The footnote text for the marker 1 on the stub heading "Division and State" is not visible on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty. Eleven columns were counted from the column rules: stub, Total, two columns under "Number of elections in which representation rights were won by—", "Number of elections for which no representative was chosen", "Number of employees eligible to vote", "Total valid votes cast", three columns under "Valid votes cast for—", and "Employees in units choosing representation". A few cells print the digit-grouping comma so faintly that it reads as a bare space: Massachusetts "5 507" and Rhode Island "1 493" (Employees in units choosing representation), Pennsylvania "24 974" (same column), Indiana "1 114" (Valid votes cast for—Unaffiliated unions), and Iowa "3 962" (Total valid votes cast). All five are transcribed with the comma, and each is confirmed by the printed arithmetic (e.g. Indiana 5,553 + 1,114 + 7,287 = 13,954; New England's six states' last column sums to 11,741). Every row and column total printed on this crop was checked and is internally consistent: the three election-outcome columns sum to the Total column in every row, the three "Valid votes cast for—" columns sum to "Total valid votes cast" in every row, and each division line equals the sum of its states in all columns. No misprints were found. Section/division lines (New England, Middle Atlantic, East North Central, West North Central, South Atlantic) carry values here and are transcribed as ordinary data rows, as printed.

p. 194. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 11 columns (stub + 10 numeric), counted from the column rules. The table is cut off at the top: the regional group line for the South Atlantic division (which covers District of Columbia through Florida) and all earlier regions fall above the crop. Note that in this table each regional total line is printed ABOVE the States it covers (e.g. "East South Central" precedes Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi), not below; the rows are transcribed in printed order. Internal arithmetic checks all pass and corroborate the digits and their column assignment: every regional line equals the sum of the State rows printed beneath it in all ten columns; column 1 equals columns 2+3+4 in every data row; and column 6 equals columns 7+8+9 in every data row (this last check also validates columns 6-9 of the South Atlantic rows, which have no total line on this crop). The only cells not cross-checked by one of these relations are columns 5 and 10 of the seven South Atlantic rows; they are clearly printed. The typesetting drops some digit-grouping commas to spaces (e.g. Virginia col. 8 "3 988", Tennessee cols. 8-9 "1 709" / "7 290", Alabama col. 8 "1 356", Colorado cols. 6 and 9, New Mexico col. 5, Arizona cols. 7 and 9, Pacific col. 6, Washington col. 9, Oregon col. 5, Hawaii col. 10, Puerto Rico col. 6); these are transcribed with commas per instruction. The vertical string "712-345—64——13" in the left margin is the printer's signature mark, not table content, and is excluded. In the footnote the abbreviation periods in "U S" and any terminal period are not legible in the scan; transcribed as they appear.
