p. 36. The image is Chart 14, "CASES CLOSED" (page 23 of the FY1963 report); what is transcribed here is the data table printed under the bar chart, whose stub holds the chart legend entries. The caption/chart title, the running head, and the page number are omitted as instructed, as is the body text printed below the chart. The leftmost part of the two data rows carries a graphic legend swatch (a solid black block for C CASES, a horizontally hatched block for R & UD CASES); these are pictorial keys, not a separate text column, so they are not given a column of their own. The y-axis scale labels on the chart itself (CASES: 0 through 27,500 in steps of 2,500) belong to the chart graphic, not to the data table, and are not transcribed as rows. In the TOTALS row, the 1963 cell is printed as "24,678" followed by a small dot at the baseline ("24,678."). It reads as a stray ink mark or broken rule end rather than a footnote marker or decimal point, so the cell is given as 24,678; 13,605 + 11,073 = 24,678 confirms the digits. All six column totals equal the sum of the two rows above them as printed, so no misprint is suspected elsewhere.
