Reader’s notes
p. 290. The table has 15 columns: stub plus 5 under "Elections participated in", 5 under "Employees involved in elections (number eligible to vote)", and 4 under "Valid votes cast". Decimal points: in this scan most percentage cells show the decimal point only faintly or not at all (e.g. the Total row reads like "34 7", "65 3", "64 0", "87 2", "56 1"), while the AFL-CIO row's "37.5" and "29.0" show clear periods. All of these are one-decimal percentages printed in the same style and typeface, so they have been transcribed with the decimal point. This is supported arithmetically: 34.7+65.3=100.0, 64.0+36.0=100.0, 72/192=37.5, 120/192=62.5, 27/93=29.0, 66/93=71.0, 16,781/19,253=87.2, 9,416/16,781=56.1. "12,323" (Total row, Employees involved / Resulting in certification / Number): the middle digit is partly broken in the scan and could be misread as an "8" or "2"; it is confirmed as 3 by the column sums (12,323+6,930=19,253 and 9,850+2,473=12,323). Every column total and percentage in the table is internally consistent; no misprints were found. The vertical text at the far left of the crop ("662173—63——19") is the printer's signature mark in the page margin, not part of the table, and has been omitted.
