Reader’s notes

p. 287. Seven printed columns: stub, "Total elections", and five "Type of election" columns. The stub heading "Type of case" and "Total elections" each span both heading levels, so both are repeated in the two header rows; "Type of election" spans the last five columns. All internal arithmetic is consistent as transcribed: each total row equals the sum of its components across the five type-of-election columns, and the RC+RM+RD+UD rows sum to the "All elections, total", "Eligible voters, total" and "Valid votes, total" rows. Doubtful/stray marks: in the "Eligible voters, total" row, Expedited elections column, a small apostrophe-like speck is printed just left of 1,299; I read the value as 1,299 and treat the mark as a scan artifact, not a footnote marker. Likewise in the "Valid votes" row of the RD block, Expedited elections column, a short dash-like speck sits left of the 0; the value is 0. The three UD-block cells in the Expedited elections column hold dash rules only and are transcribed as "". Footnote text: several footnotes end without a visible period in the scan (footnotes 1, 3, 4, 6), and footnotes 2 and 6 have a wide gap where a sentence-ending period appears not to have printed ("...all parties concerned Postelection..." and "...the regional director Postelection..."); transcribed as printed. Footnote 4 reads "directon" for "direction" in the original — transcribed as printed.
