  1. 1 See table 1, footnote 1, for definitions of types of cases
  2. 2 Includes 60 cases adjusted before 10(k) notice, 1 case adjusted after 10(k) notice, and 1 case adjusted after 10(k) Board decision.
  3. 3 Includes 142 cases withdrawn before 10(k) notice; 17 cases withdrawn after 10(k) notice, 3 cases withdrawn after 10(k) hearing; and 9 cases withdrawn after 10(k) Board decision
  4. 4 Includes 56 cases dismissed before 10)k) notice, 3 cases dismissed after 10)k) notice; 4 cases dismissed after 10(k) hearing; and 3 cases dismissed by 10(k) Board decision.
  5. 5 Less than one-tenth of 1 percent.

194 of 194 figures sit in a row or column sum that works out.

Reader’s notes

p. 283. Crop/completeness: the table is cut off at the bottom of this image. It ends in the middle of the "After hearing opened, before issuance of intermediate report" block (last printed row "Dismissed"); later stages of disposition are not on this crop (the stage percents shown so far total only 90.6 of 100.0 in the All C panel). No footnote texts appear under the table on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty even though markers 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are used in the grid. Decimal points: this scan has dropped or faded most decimal points in the "Percent of cases closed" columns (they print as e.g. "100 0", "83 7"). I restored them to the document's one-decimal format. Each restoration is corroborated by arithmetic within the column: in every one of the seven panels the stage subtotal equals the sum of its rounded component percents (e.g. All C 83.7 = 15.1+39.5+29.1; All C 4.9 = 3.4+(5)+.6+.6+.2+.1; CC 7.9 = 5.0+1.6+1.3; CP 3.1 = 1.2+.7+.7+.5). The number columns likewise reconcile across panels (e.g. 1,288+280+280+62+8+90 = 2,008). "(5)" cells: in the All C and CA "Compliance with stipulated decision" row, the All C and CA "Dismissed" row (after hearing opened), and the CB "Withdrawn" row (after hearing opened), the percent cell holds a raised, parenthesized footnote reference 5 standing alone, with no numeric value. I kept the printed parentheses and digit as "(5)"; it is a footnote marker (conventionally "less than 0.05 percent"), not a value. CD column: small raised 2, 3 and 4 are printed immediately BEFORE the figures 62, 171 and 66 in the "Adjusted", "Withdrawn" and "Dismissed" rows of the "Before issuance of complaint" block; I moved them behind a caret after each value. CP / "Withdrawn" in the "After hearing opened" block: the "Percent of cases closed" cell carries a short dashed rule instead of a figure, so it is transcribed as "". The CP number cell on that line is a printed 0. Consistency check holds: CP subtotal .6 = .3 (Adjusted) + .3 (Dismissed). Stray marks: the CB "Number of cases" column has brace/bracket strokes in the scan — a "}" spanning 280 and 1,057, and bracket strokes beside 9/4 and beside 1/0. These are printing or microfilm artifacts, not characters of the values; they are not transcribed. Doubtful cells: (a) All C, "Compliance with stipulated decision" (after hearing opened), percent — reads ".2" though 15/13,319 recomputes to .1; I kept the printed .2, which is what makes the printed column subtotal 2.0 add up. (b) All C, "Compliance with stipulated decision" (after issuance of complaint), percent (5) — 7/13,319 is .053, marginally above the "less than .05" threshold the marker implies. (c) CP, "Dismissed" (after issuance of complaint), percent ".5" — the decimal point is visible here but the glyph is faint. (d) CA, "Dismissed" (after issuance of complaint), percent ".1" — 14/8,910 recomputes to .2; transcribed as printed. These are printed as-is, not corrected.

p. 284. CONTINUATION PAGE: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 15 columns: the stub plus 14 value columns, which are seven Number/Percent pairs (column rules group them 2-2-2-2-2-2-2). The earlier stages of the table and all headings are on the preceding page. PERCENT COLUMNS AND LOST DECIMAL POINTS: this is a degraded bitonal scan in which the leading decimal point of a percent value is dropped roughly half the time (e.g. the first row's total-percent prints as "8" with no visible point while the adjacent CA percent clearly shows ".9"; mid-value points likewise render as a gap, "1 1" for 1.1, "5 1" for 5.1). Because every percent column in this table carries one decimal place, I have transcribed all percent cells with the decimal point, including zero percents as ".0". If the original in fact sets an exact zero as plain "0" rather than ".0", every ".0" cell here should be read as "0"; the distinction could not be resolved at this scan quality. FOOTNOTE-5 CELLS: a parenthesized raised 5 stands in place of a value in many percent cells (meaning "less than one-tenth of 1 percent"). Since it is the whole cell rather than a marker attached to a number, it is written "(^5)". DOUBTFUL CELLS: - "Compliance" under "After intermediate report, before issuance of Board decision", total-number column: the middle digit is broken and reads as either 102 or 192. Transcribed 102, which is what makes the section's five sub-rows (4, 102, 2, 1, 4) sum to the printed section figure of 113; 192 would not. - "Compliance" under "After circuit court decree, before Supreme Court action", total-number column: the final digit is badly broken and looks like "18C". Transcribed 186, which makes the sub-rows (186, 159, 3) sum to the printed 348; 180 would not. - "Otherwise" under "After Board decision, before court decree", CB percent (column 6): read as ".5", but 15 cases against the column base implied by the other rows (~2,650) would print ".6". The 5/6 glyph distinction is not resolvable here. - "Compliance" under "After circuit court decree, before Supreme Court action", CD percent (column 10): read as ".7", while the identical count of 2 in the "After Board decision, before court decree" row shows ".6" in the same column. The two must agree, so one of the two is a misread; both are transcribed as seen. - "After Supreme Court action" section row, CA percent (column 4): read as ".3"; 22 cases against the CA base implied by the other rows (~8,930) would print ".2". - "Dismissed" under "After Supreme Court action", CB percent (column 6): read as ".2"; 7 cases against the CB base implied by the other rows (~2,650) would print ".3". - "Dismissed" under "After circuit court decree, before Supreme Court action": a short stray dash sits in the column-13 gutter left of the value 1; treated as scan noise and not transcribed. ARITHMETIC CHECK: with the readings above, every section's sub-rows sum exactly to its section row in all seven number columns, so the number columns are well anchored; the residual uncertainty is concentrated in the percent columns. FOOTNOTE 4 AS PRINTED: it reads "before 10)k) notice, 3 cases dismissed after 10)k) notice" — the first bracket of each pair is set as a closing parenthesis where "10(k)" is clearly meant. Transcribed as printed. Footnotes 1 and 3 end without a terminal period, also as printed; footnote 3's last word "decision" wraps to a new line and has been joined.
