Reader’s notes

p. 246. Eleven columns: the stub plus two five-column panels ("Elections in which a representative was redesignated" and "Elections resulting in decertification"); the two panels are parallel column groups of one table, not side-by-side repeats of the same headings, so they are kept side by side as printed. In the two "Percent casting valid votes" columns the decimal point is worn away in this scan and prints as a gap ("89 8", "90 9", "91 0", "87 1", "90 7", "93 2"); they are transcribed as decimals (89.8, 90.9, 91.0, 87.1, 90.7, 93.2), which is consistent with the arithmetic (e.g. 6,962/7,757 = 89.8 percent). A small ink smudge sits above the word "Votes" in the fifth column heading ("Votes cast for no union", redesignated panel); it appears to be a scanning blemish rather than a footnote marker, and no footnotes are printed under the table. All component figures add to the printed totals in every column, and each panel's "winning/losing union" plus "no union" columns sum to that panel's "Total valid votes cast".
