Reader’s notes
p. 244. Decimal points in the percent columns are nearly lost in this 1-bit scan, printing as gaps (e.g. "60 0", "10 3", "89 7"); they are transcribed as decimal points, which every column's arithmetic supports (60.0+40.0=100.0, 10.3+89.7=100.0, 61.5+38.5=100.0, 40.5+59.5=100.0, 50.0+50.0=100.0). For the same reason the Total row's "Employees involved / Resulting in deauthorization / Number" cell, which images as "2 02", is read as 202 (195+7=202, and 202+1,764=1,966). The two sub-1 percents on the Unaffiliated row — "Employees involved / Resulting in deauthorization / Percent of total" and "Cast for deauthorization / Percent of total eligible" — show only a "5" with no legible leading character; both are 7/1,485 = 0.47 percent, so the printed value is a rounded five-tenths, transcribed as ".5" on the assumption the house style omits the leading zero, but a printed "0.5" cannot be ruled out. In the footnote the period after "Sec" is faint but the abbreviation is clear. The stub heading "Affiliation of union holding union-shop contract" spans all three heading levels and is repeated in each. All component-to-total checks in the body hold exactly; no misprint is suspected.
