Reader’s notes

p. 217. CROP: the table is cut off at the bottom — 21-CB-1351 is the last row printed on this image and the table continues on the following page. No footnote block appears in the crop, so the "*" and "(¹)" markers are undefined here and `footnotes` is empty. TYPE OF PETITION: the parenthesized character is full-height (not raised) and I read it as a letter, i.e. the statutory subsection: "(l)" (Section 10(l)) for rows 1-17 and "(j)" (Section 10(j)) for 21-CB-1351. The glyph is genuinely ambiguous between "1" and lowercase "l" in this serif face; the clear "(j)" on the last row — the only CB case, which is exactly the 10(j) situation — is what decided the reading. If the pipeline prefers literal glyphs, these cells could equally be rendered "(1)". "(¹)" CELLS: the entries in "Date temporary injunction granted" for rows 18-CC-51, 19-CC-112, 22-CC-56, 14-CC-130, 17-CC-91, 9-CC-254, 36-CC-66, 12-CC-50, 17-CC-96 and 18-CC 66 are standalone footnote-reference markers — a small raised 1 in parentheses, clearly smaller and higher than the date text in the same column — not dates. Transcribed as printed since there is no accompanying value for a caret to attach to. PUNCTUATION / SCAN LOSS: this is a 1-bit scan and periods after abbreviations drop out frequently. I transcribed only periods I could actually see, so abbreviations are inconsistent across rows exactly as they appear (e.g. "Co" and "Corp" without periods but "Dist." and "G. A." with them; "Apr.", "Nov.", "Oct." and "Aug." with periods but "Aug", "Oct", "Jan", "Feb", "Mar", "Sept" elsewhere without). The printed text often shows a gap where a period would sit; I did not insert periods into those gaps. DOUBTFUL CELLS: - 22-CC-56, "Date petition for injunction filed": printed "May 15. 1959" with a baseline dot rather than a comma after the day. Transcribed as seen; almost certainly a comma whose tail was lost. - Row 17, Case No.: printed "18-CC 66" with no visible hyphen before 66. Transcribed as seen; it is almost certainly "18-CC-66". - 36-CC-66, Union and company: "Tilla Mook" is printed as two words across a line break with a capital M and no end-of-line hyphen, so I joined with a space rather than repairing a hyphen. The firm is Tillamook County Creamery Assn. - 10-CC-426, "Date Board decision and/or order": trailing "I R." after the date, likely "I. R." for Intermediate Report. - 22-CC-61: company reads "Mach Lumber Co"; could be "Mack". ASTERISKS: nine union entries carry a leading "*" (all of them Teamsters cases). Per the marker convention I moved it behind the text as "^*". DASH RULES: long dashed leaders ("------") fill the unused Temporary restraining order, Date injunction denied and dismissed/dissolved cells; all transcribed as "". The "Date Board decision and/or order" cell is genuinely blank (no dash rule) for 13-CD-64, 7-CC-102, 11-CC-16, 24-CC-62 and 12-CC-54.

p. 218. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The grid has 10 columns, read off the vertical rules: case number (stub); name of respondent/case; a date column; a narrow column holding the parenthesised superscript reference (1) in every row; then four date columns; then two further columns at the right. Column 4 is used only by rows 2-CC-517, 2-CC-518 and 23-CD-39, 23-CC-63; column 5 only by 2-CC-517 and 2-CC-518; column 7 (second from the right-hand pair) is a dash rule in every row of this crop and is therefore empty throughout. Dash rules (------) and leader dots are transcribed as empty cells. In the first row (36-CC-77) a stray raised mark that looks like a bold 2 is printed near the right-hand edge of column 6, well away from the (1) in that cell; it may be a footnote marker but its ownership is unclear, so it was not attached to any cell. Row 22-CC-69, column 8 is printed "Feb 23 1960" with no visible comma. Punctuation is badly eroded in this scan: periods after abbreviations (Inc, Co, Assn, Aug, Sept, St, Dist) are often missing or broken, and the cells reproduce the characters actually visible, so an absent period should not be read as meaningful. Row 10-CC-428 has no entry in the last column (nothing is printed there). A partial line of text is clipped by the bottom edge of the crop below the stub column; it is almost certainly the table's footnote 1 but is illegible, so footnotes is left empty.

p. 219. Continuation page of Table 20 (the "—Continued" line is omitted as instructed); no footnote texts are printed under the table on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty even though footnote markers are used — their definitions are on the table's first page. "Type of petition" column: the entries are, I believe, section designations "(l)" and "(j)" (Sec. 10(l) / Sec. 10(j)), not the digit "(1)". In this typeface a lowercase "l" and a digit "1" are visually identical at this scan resolution; the deciding evidence is row 15-CB-415, whose cell is unmistakably "(j)" — a letter, not a number — and which is the one CB (not CC/CD) case in the panel. If the ground truth reads these as "(1)", every such cell is affected. "Date temporary injunction granted" column: the cells shown as "(1)" are small raised parenthetical footnote references standing alone as the whole cell content (not attached to any value), so they are transcribed with the characters as printed rather than with caret notation. Asterisks printed immediately before certain union names (*Teamsters, *Longshoremen) are footnote/other markers defined elsewhere; because in row 2-CC-524 the asterisk sits mid-cell ("Local 3 & *Teamsters Local 282"), moving it would garble the label, so all are left exactly where they are printed. 9-CD-45, "Date injunction proceedings dismissed or dissolved": printed as "Mar. , 1960" — the day number is blank or illegible in the scan; transcribed as "Mar. , 1960". Many empty cells are printed as a dash rule ("------------"); all are transcribed as "". Rows 2-CC-525, 7-CC-106, 2-CC-525's "denied"/"dismissed" cells and the TRO cells of several rows are genuinely blank with no dash rule — both cases give "". Period after month abbreviations is faint and inconsistent in this scan (e.g. "Sept" vs "Sept."); abbreviations have been written uniformly with a period. "Indef." in 15-CB-415 likewise. Doubtful readings: "Int'l Assn." in 15-CB-415 (the apostrophe is not resolvable; could be "Intl"); the company name "Brunnckow" in 1-CC-236 (possibly "Brunckow"); "Locals 1397" in 2-CC-527 (the third digit is indistinct). Trailing sentence periods after a closing parenthesis are transcribed where visible. Apparent oddity, transcribed as printed: 19-CC-129 shows proceedings dismissed Jan. 29, 1960 but a Board decision of Jan. 12, 1960. A small stray mark resembling a page number appears at the bottom edge beneath the "Date temporary injunction granted" column; it is not table content.

p. 220. Crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed on this image, so header_rows is empty. No footnote text appears below the last row either (the crop ends immediately after the 22-CC-73 row), so footnotes is empty even though footnote reference "(1)" is used throughout. Column count: I read 10 printed columns. Left to right: (0) case number, (1) name of case, (2) a date, (3) a column holding "(1)" in every row, then a heavy DOUBLE vertical rule, then (4)-(8) five date columns, and (9) a disposition/remarks column. The narrow white strip between the "(1)" column and the first date column is only about 0.08 in wide at 300 ppi, far too narrow to hold text, so I treated it as a double rule separating two column groups rather than as an 11th (empty) column. This is the main structural judgment call in the transcription. Column 3 holds a baseline "(1)" in all 24 rows; column 6 holds a small raised "(1)" in rows 2-CC-530, 21-CC-342, 35-CC-73, 14-CC-142, 20-CC-198, 7-CC-113, 13-CP-1, 2-CC-538 and 22-CC-73. In both cases the "(1)" is the whole content of the cell (a pointer to footnote 1, which is not in this crop), not a marker attached to a value, so it is transcribed as the cell text. Asterisks: nine case names are printed with a leading asterisk (10-CC-435, 13-CC-216, 21-CC-342, 35-CC-73, 20-CC-198, 2-CC-536, 16-CP-1, 2-CP-7, 20-CC-203). Per the marker convention I moved each to the end of the label as ^*; in the image the asterisk stands before the first word of the name. Cells shown as a dash rule ("------------") are transcribed as "". Leader dots after the case numbers, and after "Teamsters, Local 745 (Macatee, Inc.)" in row 16-CP-1, were dropped. Doubtful readings: - Case number in the "Retail Clerks, & Local 344 (Alton Myers Bros., Inc.)" row (stub, row 11): the second digit is damaged and could be read as 1 or 4. I transcribed "14-CP-1"; Alton, Ill. falls in Region 14, which supports that reading, but the glyph is not clean. - The scan intermittently drops the period after abbreviations and month names: the same abbreviation appears both with and without it (e.g. "Oct. 27, 1959" in one row, "Oct 27, 1959" in the next; "Co , Inc )" with a space where a period belongs). Because the dropout is clearly a scanning defect rather than typesetting, I rendered month abbreviations and "Co./Inc./Corp./Bros./Assoc." with periods throughout. May and June are printed without a period. - Row 16-CP-2 (Sapulpa), date column 2: the "e" of "Dec." carries a stray accent-like speck, reading "Déc."; transcribed as "Dec. 2, 1959". - Row 17-CC-111, column 6: a stray dot sits between "Dec." and "14"; transcribed as "Dec. 14, 1959". - Line-end hyphens repaired: Anemo-stat to Anemostat, Prod-ucts to Products, Wil-son to Wilson, Con-struction to Construction. Hyphens kept where they belong to the name itself: "Porter-De Witte", "Picker-X-Ray", "Stan-Jay". "Picker-X-Ray Corp." is printed broken as "Picker-X-" / "Ray Corp.", so the first hyphen may be a typeset break rather than part of the name. - "Graphic" in the 20-CC-203 row is blurred to something like "Giaphic" in the scan; read as "Graphic".

p. 221. Continuation page of Table 20; column headings are reprinted on this page, so they are given. No footnote text is printed on this crop, and the crop ends immediately below the last row (13-CP-3), whose second label line is the last thing visible — the table continues onto the next page. Markers: several union names are printed with a leading asterisk (*Longshoremen's, *Teamsters, *Lithographers, etc.). Following the marker convention these asterisks have been moved to the end of the label as ^*; in the image they appear before the name. The "Type of petition" column holds a parenthesized reference "(1)" in every row, and the "Date temporary injunction granted" column holds a parenthesized raised "(1)" in many rows (rows 19-CC-130, 14-CP-2, 12-CC-65, 1-CP-4, 16-CP-4, 16-CP-5, 18-CC-76-2, 35-CC-75, 17-CC-112, 20-CC-204, 4-CP-4). Both are footnote references standing as the whole cell content and are transcribed as "(1)"; in the injunction-granted column the numeral is set as a small raised 1. Suspected misprints, transcribed as printed: row 13-CP-3 date petition filed reads "Jan 18, 9160" (digits transposed, presumably 1960); row 19-CC-130 shows "Apr. 25, 1959" under "Date injunction proceedings dismissed or dissolved", which predates its own Dec. 14, 1959 petition date and is presumably 1960. Abbreviation periods are inconsistently inked in this scan (e.g. "Dec 14, 1959" vs. "Dec. 16, 1959"; "Inc )" vs. "Inc.)"); periods have been written consistently. End-of-line hyphenation has been repaired (Gro-cery, Charl-ton, Wil-son, Construc-tion, Okla-homa, South-western, Univer-sal, Meat-cutters). A dashed rule runs across the rightmost column between rows 17-CC-112 and 4-CD-46; it is a rule, not data, so both cells are empty. All other dashed-line cells are likewise empty.

p. 222. Continuation page: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. No footnote text, caption or total line appears on the crop either; the table runs off both the top and the bottom of the image (the first row begins mid-table and the last row, 21-CP-8-1, is the bottom-most body row shown). Content is an injunction-litigation listing (CC/CD/CP cases, fiscal 1960). COLUMN COUNT (main uncertainty). I read 11 ruled columns: (1) case number, (2) name of case, (3) date in the third column, (4) a narrow column holding "(1)" in every row, (5) a second narrow column that is empty in every row, then (6)-(10) five date columns of equal width, and (11) a final wider column holding "Settled" or a date. Columns 4 and 5 are the same width (about 60 px in the original, versus about 175 px for each date column) and both are bounded by full-height vertical rules, which is why I treated the blank strip as a real column rather than as a double rule separating two blocks of the table; if it is in fact a double rule the table has 10 columns and column 5 should be dropped. Because that column is empty in every row, no value moves either way. "(1)" CELLS. The entries in column 4 (all rows) and in column 8 (most rows) are standalone parenthesised footnote references, printed with a raised small digit in column 8; since they are not attached to any value I transcribed them as the cell text "(1)" rather than as carets. In column 4 the glyph looks slightly larger than in column 8, but I read both as the figure 1 (it could be a lowercase l in a "10(l)" sense, but nothing else of that string is printed). ASTERISKS. Nine rows print an asterisk immediately before the union name (4-CC-123, 2-CC-545, 4-CC-124, 2-CC-544, 20-CC-47, 5-CD-40, 14-CD-98, 9-CC-264, 22-CC-78). Treating it as a footnote/legend marker, I removed it from the front of the label and appended it as ^* at the end of the label text, per the marker convention. Its meaning is not printed on this crop. SUSPECTED MISPRINTS AND DOUBTFUL CELLS. - 1-CC-240, date column (col 3): printed "Jan. 26, 1950"; every other date on the page is 1960, so this is very likely a typo for 1960. Transcribed as printed. - 1-CC-240, name: reads "Engineers. Operating, Local 57 et al" with what appears to be a period after "Engineers"; the parallel row 12-CC-81 prints "Engineers, Operating, Local 675" with a comma. Transcribed as seen. - 3-CD-41, name: "Local 395" — the 9 is blotted and could be read as another digit. - 20-CC-47, case number: the 0 is heavily inked; region 20 is the natural reading. - Abbreviation periods are routinely missing or invisible in this scan ("Riss & Co )", "Inc )", "Corp )", "E A Gallagher"); I transcribed the visible characters, so a missing period inside a name is a scan artefact, not necessarily the printed text. Likewise the periods after month abbreviations (Jan./Jan, Feb./Feb, Mar./Mar) are only intermittently legible and my reading of each one is low-confidence; the month, day and year themselves are clear. - All dash rules ("------") and blank cells were rendered as "". Leader dots after case numbers and after some names were dropped. COLUMN PLACEMENT WORTH CHECKING. Only one row puts a value in column 9: 4-CC-123, "Feb. 1, 1960". Column 10 carries values in four rows (4-CC-124 "Feb 23, 1960"; 21-CD-69 "June 17, 1960"; 13-CC-223 "May 26, 1960"; 21-CP-8-1 "June 16, 1960"). Columns 6 and 7 are used only by 4-CC-124, 5-CD-40 and 4-CC-129. I matched each entry to its column by the centre of the printed text against the ruled column centres.

p. 223. Continuation page of Table 20 (caption line "—Continued" omitted as instructed); the table runs on from the previous page and off the bottom of this crop, and no footnote block is printed on this image, so `footnotes` is empty. Grid: 10 columns. "Temporary restraining order" spans the two columns "Date issued" / "Date lifted"; all other headings are tall single headings spanning both levels. "Type of petition" column: every row carries a parenthesized single character, full-size (not raised), which is the statutory subsection — "(l)" for Sec. 10(l) on all rows except 1-CB-635, which is "(j)" for Sec. 10(j). In this typeface the lowercase "l" is hard to distinguish from the digit "1"; the glyph could literally be read as "(1)", but the "(j)" on 1-CB-635 confirms the letter reading. "Date temporary injunction granted" column: fourteen rows hold a small raised numeral 1 inside parentheses standing alone in place of a date. I have treated it as a footnote reference and transcribed it as "(^1)" — printed parentheses kept, caret marking the raised digit. The footnote it points to is not printed on this crop. 3-CC-106 (Steelworkers, Local 5895 / Carrier Corp.): the petition filing date is Mar. 26, 1960 but the temporary injunction granted date reads "Mar. 16, 1960", i.e. ten days before the petition was filed. Suspected misprint (possibly for Mar. 31 or Apr. 16); transcribed exactly as printed. The month and day digits themselves are legible. Asterisks: four union names are printed with a leading "*" ("*Teamsters, Local 662", "*Teamsters, Local 810", "*Teamsters & its Local 294"). The asterisk is full-size and sits before the name rather than being raised after it, and the legend explaining it is not on this crop, so I left it in place at the head of the label rather than moving it behind a caret. Periods: the scan renders many abbreviation periods faintly or not at all ("Co )", "Intl Assoc", "Mar 16, 1960", "Apr 11, 1960", "Mar 28, 1960", "Apr 22, 1960"). These are almost certainly printed and I have restored them; the words themselves are unambiguous. Terminal sentence periods after the closing parenthesis are reproduced where visible and omitted where not, which is how they appear on the page. Broken type: in 3-CD-42 the word "Industry" is printed with a damaged r as "Industi y"; transcribed as "Industry". "Ready-Mix" in 18-CC-78 breaks at its own hyphen across two printed lines and is a genuine hyphenated compound, so the hyphen is kept. 21-CC-355, 21-CE-1: the stub label occupies two printed lines ("21-CC-355," / "21-CE-1.") for a single row; joined, trailing period as printed. Dash rules ("------") filling empty cells are transcribed as "". Leader dots after case numbers dropped.

p. 224. Crop is a mid-table continuation page: no column headings are printed on this image, so header_rows is empty, and no footnote block appears at the bottom. The table continues both above and below the crop (the column rules run off the top and bottom edges; the last row, 12-CC-90, sits flush against the bottom edge). Column count: 10, read off nine vertical rules. In order: (0) case number stub, (1) case name/parties, (2) a date, (3) a very narrow column that holds the reference "(1)" in every single row, (4) and (5) two date columns that are filled in only four rows (21-CC-362, 4-CP-11, 13-CD-80, and partially others), (6) a column holding either "(1)" or a date, (7) a date column filled only for 2-CE-1 (June 2, 1960), (8) a date column filled only for 21-CC-362 (May 20, 1960), (9) the disposition word (Settled / Withdrawn / blank). The "(1)" entries are the whole content of their cells (a parenthesized footnote reference standing alone), not markers attached to a value, so they are transcribed as the cell text "(1)". Those in column 6 are set slightly smaller/raised than those in column 3, but both read "(1)". Cells printed as a dash rule ("------") and cells left blank are both transcribed as "". Dash rules appear in most of columns 4, 5, 7, 8; a few rows (e.g. 12-CC-87, 2-CP-24) appear to leave those cells wholly blank instead, but this does not change the transcription. Punctuation caveat: this is a degraded 1-bit scan and the period after abbreviations (Inc., Co., Intl., Dist., Wkrs., Mfrs., et al., Apr., Mar.) is dropped by the scan in many places while clearly visible in others (e.g. "Inc.)." in 12-CD-16 and 2-CC-556, "Co.)" in 2-CC-558). Where the spacing shows a dropped period I have restored it, so the name and date columns are uniform; readers wanting strict glyph-level fidelity should know roughly 20 of these periods are not legible on the image itself. Four case names carry a full-size leading asterisk as printed (12-CC-87, 14-CC-149, 2-CE-1, 12-CC-89); because it is at baseline height and printed before the name rather than raised after it, it has been left in place rather than moved behind a caret. Its meaning would be given by a legend not visible on this crop. Doubtful cell: the name in row 9-CC-267 reads "(Schenerleins' Inc.)" — the letters after "Schene" are indistinct and this could be "Schenerlein's". In row 2-CC-559 the printed text runs "1921(Spar" with no space before the parenthesis; a normal space has been supplied. Hyphens broken at line ends were repaired ("Han-/ken" to "Hanken", "Cen-/tral" to "Central"); the hyphen in "Anning-Johnson" is a real name hyphen and was kept.

p. 225. Continuation page of Table 20; the column headings are printed here, so they are given, but no footnotes appear under this crop (the footnote texts for markers 1 and * must be on the final page of the table). Column structure: 10 columns, with "Temporary restraining order" spanning the two columns "Date issued" and "Date lifted". Every "Date issued" and "Date lifted" cell on this page is a dash rule, hence "". "Type of petition": every row carries the same parenthesized single character. I read it as a lowercase el, i.e. "(l)" for a petition under sec. 10(l) of the act, which fits the case types on this page (all CC, CP and CD cases). In this 1-bit scan a lowercase "l" and the digit "1" are nearly indistinguishable, so if the printed character is a footnote reference the cells would instead read "(1)". "Date temporary injunction granted": the cells transcribed as "^1" show a small raised, parenthesized footnote reference 1 standing alone in place of a date (rows 36-CC-81, 10-CP-7, 13-CC-225, 21-CC-363, 12-CC-93, 33-CC-67, 33-CC-68, 4-CC-132, 22-CC-86/22-CD-36, 14-CC-153). These are clearly raised and smaller than the baseline-height characters in the "Type of petition" column. An asterisk is printed immediately before "Teamsters" on six rows (13-CC-225, 16-CC-93, 33-CC-68, 1-CC-245, 22-CC-87/22-CP-7); it appears on every Teamsters row and only on those, so it is a footnote marker. Per the marker convention it has been moved to follow the word it belongs to: "Teamsters^*". The scan systematically drops the periods of abbreviations (the printed page shows "Co )", "Inc )", "Intl ", "Wkrs ", "N. A ,", "R F ", "G. R ", "Sam M ", "Ralph E "). I have transcribed these as the standard abbreviations with their periods; the gaps in the image indicate lost dots rather than unpunctuated setting. For the same reason the period after "Apr" in the "Date temporary injunction granted" cell of row 30-CC-50 is not visible but is transcribed as "Apr. 21, 1960". Case numbers 22-CC-86/22-CD-36 and 22-CC-87/22-CP-7 are each printed on two stub lines and joined into one label. The last row (20-CP-12) sits at the bottom edge of the crop; its third label line "G. R. Kinney Co )." is legible but touches the edge, and the table continues on the following page. The "Date Board decision and/or order" column holds words ("Settled", "Withdrawn") as well as a date (June 28, 1960) as printed.

p. 226. Crop is a continuation page: no column headings are printed, so header_rows is empty. Column count. I read 10 printed columns: (0) case number stub, (1) name of case, (2) a date, (3) a narrow column holding only the raised reference "(1)", (4)-(8) five date columns of equal width (~0.57 in each), and (9) the disposition column ("Settled"/"Withdrawn"). The narrow blank band immediately right of column 3 is a double vertical rule separating two column groups, not an eleventh column: it is only about 0.1 in wide, versus about 0.29 in for the narrowest genuine column, and it is empty in every one of the 24 rows. Footnote-reference cells. Columns 3 and 6 carry a raised, parenthesised numeral 1 as the entire content of the cell, with no value attached to it. Since there is no text for a caret marker to follow, I transcribed these as printed, "(1)". Asterisks. Five names are printed with a full-size asterisk immediately before the first word (1-CC-246, 2-CD-187, 14-CC-156, 3-CP-6, 2-CP-37). I treated these as leading footnote markers and moved each to the end of its cell as "^*", per the prefix-marker rule. If they are meant as literal leading asterisks rather than markers, restore them to the front of those five names. Punctuation artifacts. Throughout the name column a period before a closing parenthesis is missing in this 1-bit scan and shows only as a blank space: "(Southern Construction Co )", "(D. M. Picton & Co )", "(Boston Fish Market Corp )", "(United States Lines Co. et al )", "(All-Church Press, Inc )", "(Hardwood Floor Contractors' Assoc )", "(Cupples Co. Mfrs )", "(Associated General Contractors of Wyo )", "(Escapade Sportswear, Inc )", "(The Martin Co )", "(Hot Shoppes, Inc. et al )". The same abbreviations print their period clearly when followed by more text ("United States Lines Co. et al", "Cupples Co. Mfrs"), so the period is almost certainly present in the original and lost in the scan. I transcribed only what is legible and did not insert periods. Likewise "Metropolitan Dist Council" (row 4-CC-134) shows no period after "Dist", while row 12-CC-102 clearly prints "Dist.". Doubtful cells. Last row stub, column 0: reads "2-CC-98", but the glyphs are indistinct and the entry sits further right than the other stubs; given the neighbouring Region 2 numbers (2-CC-565, 2-CC-569) a reading of "2-CC-598" is possible. Row 19-CC-135, column 1: the word I read as "Structural" has a blotted third-from-last letter ("Structwral" as scanned); "Bridge Structural Iron Workers" is the obvious intended reading. Row 23-CC-72 ("Plumbers Local 142 (Piggly Wiggly)") is the one row where the dash rule runs unbroken across columns 4, 5 and 6, so column 6 is empty there rather than carrying the "(1)" that appears in most other rows. Leader dots after that row label were dropped, as were the trailing leader dots on the two-line stubs "30-CC-54, 30-CC-55" and "6-CC-218, 6-CD-113". Cut off by the crop: a partial line of text is visible at the very bottom left, below the table's last row, almost certainly a footnote or a "See footnotes at end of table" line. It is sliced by the crop and not legible, so footnotes is empty; the table's actual footnotes, including the definition of reference 1 and of the asterisk, are not on this image.

p. 227. Continuation page of Table 20; no footnote text is printed below the table on this crop, so `footnotes` is empty. The table continues past the bottom edge — the last row (19-CP-10) has its second label line ("& Co ).") clipped at the very bottom, and its dash-rule cells are only partly visible. Cells transcribed as "(1)" in the "Date temporary injunction granted" column are a parenthesised raised 1, i.e. a reference to footnote 1 (printed elsewhere, not on this crop), not a date. They are given as the characters printed rather than with a caret because the marker is the whole cell content. "Type of petition" cells hold a parenthesised single character, read as (j) or (l) for sec. 10(j) / 10(l) petitions; in this typeface lowercase l and the digit 1 are nearly identical, so these could alternatively be read as "(1)". The reading (l) is supported by the case types (CC and CP rows take (l); the CA row 16-CA-1358 and the CB row 1-CB-652-7 take (j)). Row 6-CC-217: the asterisk is printed immediately BEFORE the label ("*Teamsters, Local 261 ..."); per the marker convention it has been moved behind a caret at the end of the label. Single-value cells on multi-line rows sit partway down the row block, so alignment was judged from the dash rules: the first "Settled" belongs to 19-CC-140 (not 16-CA-1358), and the third "Settled" belongs to 2-CC-571. Rows 5-CC-124, 10-CC-452 and 19-CP-10 show dash rules in every date column (no "(1)" marker); this was checked twice against the surrounding rows that do carry the marker. Scan artifacts, not text: a small tick in the blank area under the "Temporary restraining order" heading beside row 19-CC-137, and a short stroke in the left margin beside the 21-CP-16 stub.

p. 228. Continuation fragment: no column headings are printed on this crop, so header_rows is empty. The crop shows only the last six body rows of the table, the closing rule and the two footnotes; everything above is on earlier pages. Column count (main uncertainty): nine vertical rules are visible, at the right edge of the case-number stub, of the name column, of the date column, of the narrow "(1)" column, and then five more bounding the five dash-filled columns. The heavy closing rule, however, runs about 200 px (roughly 0.7 in) further right than the last vertical rule, and the table has no outer rule on the left either, so I read the last vertical rule as an internal divider and the table as having ten columns, the tenth (rightmost) empty in all six rows. If that rule is instead the table's right border, the table has nine columns and the trailing "" in every row should be dropped; no content is lost either way. Note that the five dash columns carry a dash rule in every empty cell while the putative tenth column carries none, which argues the other way. Cell contents: the narrow fourth column holds a parenthesised footnote reference "(1)" in all six rows, and the same reference appears (set as a raised "(¹)") in the seventh column for 21-CP-18 and 21-CC-359; both are transcribed as "(1)". Dash rules in empty cells are rendered "". The leading asterisk on the union names of 21-CC-359 and 9-CC-273 is the footnote marker defined by the first footnote; per instruction it has been moved to the end of the cell as "^*". Scan artefacts: this is a 1-bit scan in which many abbreviation periods are faint or lost. I have restored them where the spacing clearly holds one: "Greater N Y." -> "Greater N.Y.", "Inc )" -> "Inc.)", "Corp )." -> "Corp.).". "et al" is printed without a period for 1-CC-254 and 21-CC-359 and with one for 9-CC-273; transcribed as printed. For 21-CP-18 a comma appears to be printed after the hyphen-broken "Kroeck-/er" ("Kroecker, Contracting Co., Inc."), which looks like a misprint for "Kroecker Contracting Co., Inc."; transcribed as seen. 9-CC-273's "Carolina" is partly broken in the scan but legible. Extra typesetting spaces inside dates ("June 30, 1960") have been normalised to a single space.
