Arithmetic check (transcription verification only, nothing computed into cells): the nine major-industry rows (Manufacturing, Agriculture, Mining, Construction, Wholesale trade, Retail trade, Finance, Transportation, Services) sum exactly to the printed "Total" line in all six numeric columns; the 23 manufacturing detail rows sum exactly to the printed "Manufacturing" line in all six columns; the four mining detail rows and the six transportation detail rows likewise sum to their printed group lines in all six columns. No internal inconsistencies found. Print-quality remarks: (a) the Manufacturing Total cell is printed in a slightly different (italic-looking) face and its digit-grouping comma is faint, reading nearly as "3 477"; transcribed as 3,477, which the column sum confirms. (b) Several stray specks in the scan could be mistaken for footnote markers but are not: a short dash left of 10,215 (Products of petroleum and coal, Valid votes cast), a dash left of 167 (Agriculture, forestry, and fisheries, Eligible voters), a dot left of 21 (Mining, AFL-CIO affiliates), a double-dash speck left of 768 (Crude petroleum and natural gas production, Eligible voters), and a hyphen-like mark before the label "Aircraft and parts". None are transcribed. (c) The leading digit of the Communication Total is broken in the scan but reads 86, which the group sum confirms. (d) In the footnote the punctuation after "Source" and inside "U.S." is faint or dropped in the scan ("Source Standard", "U S."); normal punctuation is supplied.
