Reader’s notes
p. 186. 15 columns: stub plus 5 under "Elections participated in", 5 under "Employees involved in elections (number eligible to vote)", and 4 under "Valid votes cast". The columns headed "Total" (col 1), "Total eligible" (col 6), "Total" (col 11) and "Percent of total eligible" (col 12) carry no separate second-level heading, so their headings are repeated across the lower heading levels. Decimal points: in this 1-bit scan the period in the percentage cells is frequently dropped or reduced to a gap (printed as "68 3", "37 5", "92 2", while "31. 7" and "45. 7" still show the point). All of these columns are one-decimal percentages and every value checks out against the counts in the same row (e.g. 46/145 = 31.7, 4,130/11,018 = 37.5, 4,640/10,156 = 45.7), so they are transcribed with the decimal point. Digit-grouping commas printed with a following space ("11, 018") are written closed up. The stub label is printed "A F L-CIO" with letterspacing and a trailing run of leader dots; transcribed as "AFL-CIO". No footnotes are printed under the table. All three body rows are present and the two component rows sum to the "Total" row in every count column.
