Reader’s notes
p. 178. Eleven columns: stub, "All cases" (a tall heading spanning both header levels, as is the stub heading), five unfair-labor-practice columns and four representation columns. Arithmetic checks pass throughout: in every body row CA+CB+CC+CD equals "All C cases", RC+RM+RD equals "All R cases", and the two sum to "All cases"; the nine major-group rows (Manufacturing, Agriculture, Mining, Construction, Wholesale, Retail, Finance, Transportation, Services) sum to the printed Total of 13,303, and the Total row's components also check. This supports the column assignments, including rows whose sub-column digits are faintly inked. Faint/doubtful glyphs, all confirmed by the row arithmetic: "Textile mill products" RD = 6 and "Leather and leather products" RD = 3 (both lightly printed); "Electrical machinery, equipment, and supplies" CC = 6 and CD = 1; "Ship and boat building and repairing" CC = 6; "Coal mining" All R = 6. Footnote punctuation is faint in the scan: footnote 1 appears to read "Source" followed by what is probably a period or colon that did not print clearly (transcribed as a plain space), and both footnotes appear to end without a visible terminal period. The crop is complete: caption at top, both footnotes at bottom, no truncation. "Services" is the last printed body row (no grand recapitulation follows on this page).
