Reader’s notes

p. 179. The crop shows only the first page of the table; it ends mid-list of manufacturing industries (last printed row "Products of petroleum and coal"), so the remaining manufacturing groups, the nonmanufacturing sections and the actual footnote texts are on following pages. The line "See footnotes at end of table." is printed below the last body row; it is a continuation marker rather than a footnote, so it is not included in `footnotes`. Footnote markers: a raised 1 on the stub heading "Industrial group" and a raised 2 on each of the CA, CB, CC, CD, RC, RM and RD column headings. The scan is slightly speckled but every figure is legible; as a check, each body row's seven case-type figures sum exactly to its "All cases" value, and the Total and Manufacturing rows cross-foot exactly (13,341 and 8,011).

p. 180. This is a continuation page: the body opens with the section line "Manufacturing—Continued" and the first printed rows are the tail of the Manufacturing group; the Manufacturing total and the earlier manufacturing industries are on the preceding page. The last body row shown is "Services" (the table itself appears to continue below the crop, but no further rows are printed on this image). The 9 columns are the stub, "All cases", CA/CB/CC/CD under "Unfair labor practice cases", and RC/RM/RD under "Representation cases"; "Industrial group ^1" and "All cases" are tall headings spanning both heading levels. Scan quality is fair but a few glyphs are soft: "Mining" RM = 6 and "Mining" All cases = 216 are slightly blotted, though both are consistent with the row and column arithmetic. Every data row's seven component values sum exactly to its printed "All cases" figure, and the four mining sub-rows sum to the Mining line (216) and the seven transportation sub-rows to the transportation line (1,541), so no misprint is suspected. In footnote 1 the character after "Source" prints as a raised dot in this scan; it is transcribed as a colon.
