Reader’s notes
p. 187. Decimal points in the percent columns are very faint in this scan and read almost as spaces (e.g. "35 0", "90 9"); they are printed decimal points and are transcribed as such. Every percentage recomputes correctly from the printed counts (55/157=35.0, 102/157=65.0, 7,478/13,002=57.5, 11,825/13,002=90.9, 5,889/11,825=49.8, and likewise for each affiliation row), and all three affiliation rows sum exactly to the "Total elections" line in every count column, so the column assignments are confirmed. Row labels "A. F. L." and "C. I. O." are printed with wide letter spacing and the periods are partly broken up in the scan (the period after the initial "A" and those in "C I O" are faint or lost); they are rendered here in the report's standard form. "Unaffiliated" is unambiguous. A small stray ink speck sits just left of the word "Elections" in the first spanner heading; it is scanner dirt, not a footnote marker, and is not transcribed. No footnotes are printed beneath the table. The crop shows the complete table, including the closing rule.
