- 1 Sec. 8 (a) (3) of the act requires that, to revoke a union-shop provision, a majority of the employees eligible to vote must vote in favor of deauthorization.

Reader’s notes
p. 185. 15 columns (stub + 14). The scan is a coarse 1-bit reproduction in which many periods, and most decimal points inside the percentage figures, did not reproduce (e.g. the total row prints as "60 0", "40 0", "23 9", "76 1", "46 4"); since "85.0" in the same row shows a clear point and every percentage is internally consistent with its own numerator/denominator, these have been transcribed with decimal points. For the same reason the union labels, printed as "A F L" and "C I.O.", are transcribed as "A. F. L." and "C. I. O.", and the footnote's "Sec" as "Sec.". Doubtful cells: (a) the heading over the last two columns reads "C_st for deauthorization" — the vowel is filled in and could be read "Cost", but "Cast for deauthorization" is the sense required by the "Valid votes cast" spanner and is what I have transcribed; (b) row "C. I. O.", column "Number of polls / Resulting in deauthorization / Percent of total" shows only a point followed by a zero, transcribed ".0"; it is most likely "0.0" with a dropped leading zero; (c) row "C. I. O.", column "Employees involved / Resulting in deauthorization / Percent of total" shows a bare "0" with no decimal, transcribed as printed. The spanner "Number of polls" prints with a broken r ("Numbei"), and several i's in the headings have lost their dots; these are scanning artifacts and have been transcribed as the intended words. All row and column sums, and every percentage, check out against the printed figures; no misprints detected.
