Reader’s notes

p. 168. Six printed columns: stub, "All cases", three columns under the spanner "Unfair labor practice cases" ("All C cases", "CA cases", "Other C cases"), and "Representation cases". The last five rows are indented under "Decisions issued, total" (a breakdown of that total); the indentation is not reproduced in the labels. Footnote markers: raised 2 and 3 are printed to the LEFT of 295 and 103 in the "CA cases" and "Other C cases" columns of the "Decisions and orders" row; they are recorded after the value as 295^2 and 103^3. Footnote 2 is printed without a terminal period and with the apparent misprint "exeptions" (footnote 3 has "exceptions"); both are transcribed as printed. Cells shown as dash rules (e.g. the "Representation cases" entries for "Complaints issued", "Intermediate reports issued", "Decisions and orders", "Decisions and consent orders", and the C-case columns of the last three rows) are rendered as "". The "CA cases" cell of "Notices of hearing issued" is likewise a dash rule. A stray ink mark sits just left of 4,778 in the "Representation cases" column of "Notices of hearing issued"; it is not a digit or footnote marker. The scan renders many lowercase i's without dots (e.g. "Notıces", "Decısıons"); normal spellings are used. Arithmetic as printed: 523 = 398 + 125 in "All C cases" but the subtotal row "Decisions issued, total" shows 523 against component rows summing to 523, while "All cases" 2,372 equals 398 + 125 + 1,407 + 96 + 346 = 2,372. These check out; no computation was performed on any cell.
