Voting in Decertification Elections, Fiscal Year 1953

p. 119. Eleven columns: the stub plus two five-column panels ("Elections in which a representative was redesignated" and "Elections resulting in decertification"). The two panels are parallel sets of columns for the same rows, not side-by-side panels of different rows, so they stay side by side in the grid. Decimal points in the two "Percent casting valid votes" columns: the scan renders most of these as a gap rather than a visible period (e.g. "92 6", "90 6", "86 3", "91 0"), while the C. I. O. redesignation cell prints a clear point with a following space ("94. 1"). All eight are percentages of the form NN.N, so I have transcribed each with a decimal point: 92.6, 90.6, 94.1, 93.1 (redesignated) and 87.5, 86.3, 88.7, 91.0 (decertification). The "91.0" for Unaffiliated under decertification is the one most dependent on this reading, but it is consistent with 514/565 = 90.97 percent. Arithmetic check (not applied to any cell, only as a check on the digits): in all eight numeric columns the three affiliation rows sum exactly to the printed Total — 1,973+2,185+711=4,869; 1,788+2,057+662=4,507; 1,143+1,399+439=2,981; 645+658+223=1,526; 3,168+1,343+565=5,076; 2,735+1,191+514=4,440; 966+448+163=1,577; 1,769+743+351=2,863. The stub heading "Union affiliation" and the two panel headings each span two heading levels or several columns and are repeated accordingly. A faint stray mark sits in the rule under the "Total valid votes cast" heading of the first panel and another below the table body near the bottom edge; both are scanning artifacts, not type. No footnotes are printed under the table.
